Prologue: I am the protagonist!(1/2)

“…Light teaches us, light leads us, and those who are far from light will be guilty.”

"Those who have no faith do not cover their bodies, and those who have turned their backs on their bodies cannot fill their stomachs."

"Only my Lord, let the disaster be eliminated, let fear be kept away, and everything else is suffering."

"We are free from darkness, we embrace the light..."

Four or five rows of benches were neatly arranged. In the room that seemed a little cramped, a group of people stood in the middle, held the final stage of prayer, and recited the "Lord's Prayer".

There are men, women, young and old, and about a dozen people, each holding their fists in front of their chests, closing their eyes, and muttering words.

The leader is a middle-aged man.

He wore glasses and looked in his forties, wearing a dark suit that was washed until it was a little white but very neat and clean. He had just closed a thick book in his hand, looking like a teacher.

After everyone finished praying, the middle-aged man looked around and stopped for a moment on the eight-year-old boy brought by one of the women, and then said: "Praise the light. Next, lunch will be given."

"Only light."

The believers read in unison, and this time the voice was obviously neat and much louder.

Two female believers walked into the kitchen not far away with joy and brought out the already prepared lunch.

There are a pot of white rice, two plates of fried vegetables with green oil, a pot of boiled radish and a pot of braised potatoes. They are all just taken off the lid, steaming and full of portions.

Finally, a pot of braised fish was brought up.

It is extremely large, obviously more than ten kilograms, the surface is fried to brown, the meat is covered with soy sauce color, the seasoning is obviously odorful, and the smell is smelled from a distance.

Several believers swallowed their saliva, and their eyes revealed joy.

The boy shook the woman's arm that was serving the rice: "Mom, mom! This fish is so big! Did it catch it in the big river in the north?"

The woman's face changed slightly, and she hurriedly pressed the boy's head hard, leaned into her ear and blamed her:

"Guangming educates us not to speak loudly when we eat! Huh, this is the fish in Yuanyang River. Last week was the opening period. The Ministry of Urban Defense organized many people to go out of the city to fish and get good harvests."

She paused and added: "This is the gift of light to us."

The Yuanyang River runs through the boundaries of Yuanzhou and Yangzhou from west to east. It is an important source of food for Anding City, which is not as powerful as the Yuanzhou boundary.

"Oh, praise the light!"

The boy nodded his head quickly and learned a sentence like a decent sentence. He watched his mother pick up a piece of fish that was the size of his fist with anticipation, smelling the fragrance greedily, and then continued:

"But it doesn't look bright at all. It's so dark, like a sky where there is no stars in the night. Look at its eyes as if it's a demon in a book."

Bang!

...The people around him suddenly stopped serving food and cooking. After several of them looked panicked, they trembled and knocked over the tableware, while several stared at the boy in annoyance.

The boy was obviously frightened by the reactions of the people around him, and stayed there for a moment, his eyes quickly turned red, his mouth slightly opened, as if he was about to cry.

"Bang!"

"Don't cry!"

The woman roared, covering her child's mouth with force, and her fingers obviously left a mark on the boy's fair face.

She then lowered her head and begged humbly and cowardly to the middle-aged man standing first:

"Elder Luo, this is his first time here. I blame me for not teaching him well. He did not intentionally offend Guangming. Please... please forgive me."

"Haha, what a pure and innocent child, he is like a piece of amber."

Elder Luo walked up to the boy, reached out and patted his head, keeping a smile: "Light protects us, everything is shining under the light. Even though they turned against light, light never gave up on them."

But you just said that those who are far away from the light will be guilty...

The boy stopped crying and stared at him blankly, but his mother covered her mouth and couldn't speak.

Seeing his eyes flashing, Elder Luo pointed to the fish in the basin and said, "Although they have been infected by darkness, they have been baptized by light, so they can be eaten."

As he said that, he picked up a piece of tender meat under the gills and put it into his mouth. After chewing it for a few times, his face suddenly changed, but he still swallowed it in front of everyone, and began to pray with his eyes closed.

"May the light protect you."

The believers held their breath and stared at the elders with their glasses, as if they were afraid, or looking forward to something.

After a moment, Elder Luo opened his eyes, his eyes clear and uncontaminated, and he mutated.

"Continue to eat." Elder Luo wiped his mouth and said.

Seeing this, the other believers also quietly breathed a sigh of relief: "Praise the light."

As soon as the words fell, the boy who was still crying just now bit off a piece of fish closest to him. After a moment, he had a bitter face and secretly spitted a few times.

It's so salty! It also has a strong fishy smell!

The boy looked around with a slightly confused look and found that everyone was frowning. After thinking about it, he still endured the unhappy taste stimulation and ate.

Although it was a little salty, I have to say that the meat is very tender and chewy.

After all, it is difficult for ordinary families to have meat every meal, and eating meat once the next day is good.

In a poor family like him, this fish meal took several days to have the opportunity to eat the last "meat dish" and he was reluctant to waste it.

While everyone was having a meal, Elder Luo walked to a female believer who was responsible for cooking today, wiped his glasses and said in a deep thought: "Next time to cook, you can put less salt. If you are really not good at it, please change to someone else."

The fat woman wanted to argue with grievance, but he had waved his hand, finished his meal quickly, and wiped his palms clean.

Waiting for everyone to finish eating, Elder Luo held up the heavy black book and walked towards the podium.

You must praise the light after a meal to get the next gift.

"Bang bang bang!"

Suddenly, the door was rudely knocking and shaking the whole room seemed to be shaking.

Everyone looked in shock and looked towards the door, and for a moment they held their breath.

"Bang bang bang!"

"Public security inspection! Open the door immediately!"

The people outside were impatient to wait and slapped the door hard again, and a loud sound came in.

Elder Luo made a gesture to everyone to silence, and then just opened a crack in the door.

Before he could speak, two men in uniforms, one old and one young, immediately squeezed in, blocking the door and saying quickly:

"Someone reported that suspicious people were wandering here. Please cooperate with the investigation! Everyone, take out your identity certificate!"

brush!

All believers looked at them all at once and watched quietly.

"Um?!"

When they saw the scene in the room, the two men immediately held the gun bag behind their waists vigilantly, and their muscles suddenly bulged out like blowing, pushing their shirts almost cracked.

The man who had just watched him withdrew his gaze and lowered his head.

"Sir, misunderstanding, we are all residents of this area, and there are no suspicious outsiders." Elder Luo said calmly.

"Oh? Is that right? Cheng Lin, go to the house to check if there are any suspicious items."

The older middle-aged inspector said, and said, "What are you doing here for so many of you gathered? Are you the leader? What's your name and what do you do?"

Elder Luo pushed his glasses and calmed down: "My name is Roger, I am a teacher. This is my qualification certificate. We are just here..."

Before he could finish his words, a little boy raised his head excitedly and "replenished" for him: "We are praising the light!"

"?"

The inspector glanced at the boy and laughed sarcastically: "Hehe, I've heard that there were guys from the Light Cult nearby secretly recruiting people to the association. It seems that it's you."

Roger opened his mouth slightly, and just as he was about to speak, he saw the young man coming out of the kitchen and rushed up and punched him.

This happened so suddenly that he directly hit his glasses and hemorrhages the corners of his mouth, and his body fell back uncontrollably.

"ah!"

The believers exclaimed that two people hurriedly went up to support Roger, but they both felt that they were a little unacceptable.

On weekdays, Elder Luo gave them too high an impression and was the spokesperson of light. How could anyone beat him like this?

At this moment, everyone's not very firm belief collapsed a little, and they instinctively wanted to find some reasons.

By the way! Besides...and...

"Private missionary is usually fined, and at most detained. This young man is not following the rules and actually attacks. He is so heavy. I want to report you to the Supervisory Office!"

The oldest man here stood up with the help of others, pointed at Cheng Lin and cursed.

"Hey! OK, then I'll send you there. Everyone, come back to the office to file with me, not a single one!"

Cheng Lin picked up the basin that had also been filled with fish, poured the remaining residue into a transparent bag, and packed it.

This includes the fish head that has not been eaten. It is extremely hideous and has several layers of dense teeth. It seems that it can tear off a large piece of meat from a person's legs in one bite.

“This is evidence.”
