Chapter 5 Outbreak(1/3)

S City University Town.

The police blocked most sections of the road, and students in the university town were evacuated in batches under the protection of the military. There are six universities here, divided into two major parks, east and west. It is the campus area in South China that covers the largest area and gathers the most prestigious schools.

From north to south, the bus from the School of Political Science and Law had already left and passed by Liu Yan's car. Liu Yan glanced out, and the students on the school bus were playing and joking, as if they were about to go out for an autumn outing.

Outside the three schools and universities, an armed policeman stopped Liu Yan's car.

Liu Yan showed his student ID, but Meng Feng, who was driving, kept silent and asked Liu Yan to negotiate.

Liu Yan asked: "What's the situation now?"

The armed police replied: "Rabies broke out, are you injured? Young classmate? If you are injured, go for a checkup immediately and get vaccinated." He pointed to the distance, and there were several sterile tents there.

Liu Yan replied: "No, we just came from home, are we retreating here? Where to retreat?"

The armed police said: "The healthy population is temporarily isolated, and the South China Military Region garrison is two hundred kilometers away. Go back to find your dean, the instructor and the hospital will arrange for you that you must take a unified disinfection bus. What about you? Take out your student ID and take a look."

Meng Feng turned to the side and asked, "Can we go by ourselves?"

The armed police waved their hands, with a trace of purple-black blood stained on their white gloves. They looked at Meng Feng and waited for him to show his student ID.

"This is my cousin." Liu Yan said: "I'm afraid I'm not safe, so I sent me to school."

Meng Feng took out his retirement certificate. When the armed police found out that he was a veteran, they stopped checking and raised their hands to let go.

Liu Yan turned on the radio.

Broadcast: "The rabies virus outbreak in the summer is concentrated, and relevant departments call on all localities to do a good job in response. Some severely affected areas need to temporarily isolate people..."

Meng Feng said: "It's not rabies at all, I'm talking lies with my eyes open."

Liu Yan: "The healthy population has begun to be isolated, which is much worse than that of SARS."

Meng Feng: "It was said that SARS was also very serious that year, but it concealed a lot of the illness..."

Broadcast: "The people of the whole country are united, the central leaders..."

Liu Yan laughed out loud.

Broadcast: "...I went to S City, the worst-hit area to visit the patients..."

Liu Yan murmured: "The leader is going to the hardest hit area?"

Meng Feng didn't say anything. Meng Feng still remembered the roads on campus. At this moment, there were still many students walking on the road. He had no idea that City Z, a hundred miles away, had become a hell on earth that was ravaged by zombies.

Meng Feng stopped the car.

"I don't think it's reliable." Meng Feng said: "As I said, we should go by ourselves and go to the South China Military Region headquarters to take a look."

Liu Yan was silent, and he felt that what Meng Feng said was feasible, but...

"But this car is not mine." Liu Yan said: "Cui Xiaokun is my good friend. What's the matter if he drives his car away? You said?"

Meng Feng nodded, walked around the corner, and stopped in front of the dormitory building. Liu Yan fell onto the car door and ran to the dormitory. There was a huge arrow sticking downstairs - "Returned students, please go to the wind and rain playground to gather."

"Come with me." Liu Yan said.

"Where is the thing?" Meng Feng said.

"No more care! Hurry!" Liu Yan pulled Meng Feng and ran along the road, crossing the open school road to the wind and rain playground.

It was a central depression and surrounded by a ring-shaped stand, which was enough to accommodate nearly 20,000 students. Every year, large-scale cultural performances were held here. Now the jurisdictions of each college have been divided into the playground, and banners were raised from the stands.

The students were waiting for the evacuation under the scorching sun, while the girls held umbrellas, listened to music, and occasionally chatted in a low voice.

The radio broadcast in the central stand in the playground is played in a loop every five minutes: "Please consciously abide by the order. Students who return from school first report to the instructor of the college, and then go to the medical district for vaccination..."

Liu Yan found the graduate school’s headquarters, and was at the basketball hall on the east side of the stands, and then hurried through the stands with Meng Feng.

The two men, sweating profusely, entered the basketball hall, filled with students, and the central air conditioning and air conditioning came to their faces.

"Liu Yan!" Cui Xiaokun on the side hurriedly shouted: "Thank God, I'm finally back."

Liu Yan breathed a sigh of relief and stepped forward to hug Cui Xiaokun.

"Car key, Meng Feng." Liu Yan said.

Cui Xiaokun took the key: "How is Auntie? Are everything okay?"

Liu Yan was silent, Cui Xiaokun said again: "The broadcast said that the virus in City Z is spreading very severely, and most citizens have been quarantined and retreated."

Liu Yan said: "It's okay, I didn't find her, I probably have left."

Cui Xiaokun comforted: "That's good, it must be fine."

Liu Yan stroked his messy hair tiredly and his eyes turned red.

"What's the situation now?" Meng Feng asked.

Cui Xiaokun knew Meng Feng. When he first arrived in S City, he had lived in their dormitory for a few days. He immediately greeted Meng Feng and explained: "They are going to take us to a nearby barracks and are retreating in batches. It is said that it will be here until five o'clock in the afternoon."

Meng Feng stepped forward and whispered, "You have to leave right away. You don't know what happened outside. It's very dangerous."

Liu Yan said: "Wait, Meng Feng and Xiao Kun, where are the deans?"

Cui Xiaokun held a glass of water and said, "You probably won't be able to get in now when you have a meeting in the office."

Liu Yan waved his hand and said, "You two are waiting here, I'll be back soon."

There were anxious calls everywhere, reporting peace, and there was a girl in the corner crying loudly. Her boyfriend was holding her and comforting her quietly.

"Liu Yan!" the boy shouted loudly, then lowered his head and said, "Xiao Shu? Don't cry, your friend is here."

The girl looked at Liu Yan with tears in her eyes. She is Liu Yan's junior sister. She is studying for the first year of Yanyi this year. They are both from City Z. They have been calling homes since the broadcast notification last night.

"It's okay! Xiao Shu?" Liu Yan said from afar: "Now the signal is unstable. I went home once and most of the people left. My mother... saw your brother coming."

The girl said, "What's wrong with him! Where is my parents?!"

Liu Yan subconsciously made up a lie and said, "Your brother's girlfriend is not very comfortable. She went to the hospital for a visit, and your parents will accompany you."

The girl breathed a sigh of relief, and Liu Yan said again: "They were transferred to the hospital on Friday night. They should have gone south to the provincial capital and followed the military car. We chatted for a while."

Xiao Shu almost fainted and cried, "Thank you, can you contact them?"

Liu Yan waved his hand and looked at Xiao Shu's boyfriend. He was not a student of Engineering University, but a local community in S City. No one could care about him when he came in with his girlfriend.

Xiao Shu got up and was about to come to Liu Yan, but Liu Yan said, "I will tell you in detail later, I have something to do."

The man hugged Xiao Shu and whispered: "Relax, look, Liu Yan still has something to do."

Liu Yan walked through the corridor, and even sat or stood in the corridor, with many students staying there, and the end of the corridor was the office.

He knew all the people here, most of them followed their graduate supervisors to do scientific research projects. Their supervisors were in the office and had the closest relationship with the supervisor. They came here to wait for the allocation and share some chores.

Many boys in the School of Mechanical Science are very homeless and are called Frankenstein by people from other colleges. The girls in the School of Biology stand on the other side to look at their fingernails.

Liu Yan greeted one by one and was about to go forward and knock on the door. He sat on the floor at the door. The boy with his back against the wall retracted his feet and asked, "What's the matter? The teachers are having a meeting. You can't go in now."

Liu Yan pulled off his headphones and said, "Senior Brother, do you know what it is like outside?"

The man's name is Xiao Yu. When Liu Yan was in college, he was studying for the second year of college. He was very familiar with each other. After Liu Yan went abroad to be an exchange student, Xiao Yu graduated and stayed at school as an assistant teacher. The two were still used to calling each other brothers.

Xiao Yu stood up and said, "Is your family okay?"

Liu Yan whispered: "My mother may be dead. It's not rabies virus, it's zombies...you..."

Xiao Yu was startled and said, "Liu Yan, you are tired! Have a good rest first and don't think about it."

Liu Yan said: "Believe me! Let me in, I want to tell the department head in detail, you will understand later."

Xiao Yu was unbelievable, with a look of confusion in his eyebrows. He raised his hand and touched Liu Yan's head, hugged him again, and asked, "What did you see when you go home?"

"It's too late." Liu Yan calmed down and went forward to knock on the door, but Xiao Yu did not stop him.

"Come in." The old principal's voice rang.

Liu Yan pushed the door and saw a circular table inside. More than a dozen senior executives of the institute were discussing the students' retreat and the revision of their teaching plans.

"What's the matter?" a woman raised her eyes and asked, "Which college are you from."

"This is my student." The head of the Department of the School of Mechanical Science and Technology smiled and said, "Liu Yan, are you back? Everything is OK."

Liu Yan closed his eyes and shook his head.

"Where is the principal?" Liu Yan asked.

The old man who presided over the meeting was the vice principal and replied: "The principal went to communicate with the armed police. Your name is Liu Yan? What's the matter?"

Liu Yan took a deep breath and said, "I just came back from City Z to bring you bad news."

Liu Yan talked about the process of returning to City Z in detail, and the office was silent.

"My mother is a doctor, I won't lie to you." Liu Yan glanced at the deans and said uneasy: "I think it's better for us to leave here immediately and go to an empty place."

Liu Yan closed the door, and Xiao Yu whispered: "The corpses you saw...the living dead are all real?"

Liu Yan glanced at him, took his earphones and stuffed them into his left ear. There was a slow-flowing opera inside, which relaxed his tense nerves a little.

"Yes." Liu Yan said tiredly: "What will they do?"

Xiao Yu said: "It's very troublesome. I can't leave as soon as I say it. I'm still waiting for the escort of the armed police."

"I've tried my best." Liu Yan rubbed his eyebrows, and suddenly someone ran over and said, "Liu Yan! Your friend started arguing with Teacher Lin outside."
