Chapter 15 - New Mentors
…………
Uther looked at the child carefully and found that he was indeed unique, with black hair, thin body, and most special, his appearance was not as tall as the ordinary people, and his edges were not prominent. Besides, what he cared most was that Nathanos was not afraid of himself. The boy grabbed the stool and defended himself. He regarded Uther as a bad person, staring at him, as if thinking about how Uther would catch him and how he should deal with it.
Neither of the two broke the peace. In the end, Nathanos put down his stool and no longer had the warning he had just now.
"Who are you? Why are you looking for me?" Nathanos asked.
Uther decided to test the child. He deliberately did not explain his purpose, and hugged his hands and asked, "How did you know I'm here to find you?"
"Your armor looks different from ordinary soldiers. There is a cloak behind it, which is stronger than any set of armor I have ever seen. I heard the sound of horse hooves. You are not the only knight who came outside my house, but only you came in, which means you are their commander, and your status is higher than that of knights. The knight belongs to the highest level of the warrior profession in the Kingdom of Humanity. You can let the knights serve as guards for you, so you must not be an ordinary general, a nobleman, and a noble with extremely high status. In theory, there are only two things you can do when you come here. One is to find my uncle.
Uncle and aunt talked, but I heard the sound, but searched the place, but I didn't hear the sound of turning over things, but I heard someone walking upstairs toward my room. His steps were very light. After finding that there was no light in my room, I thought I was asleep, so I pushed the door and went in, and then listened to me answering your question here. Am I wrong, sir?" Nathanos spoke quickly, and Uther's brain didn't even have time to analyze whether he was wrong or right, but after slowly recalling, he found that he was saying something right. He looked at Nathanos in surprise. He could now be sure that this was the person he was looking for.
Uther slapped with his hands and said, "Totally correct, child, I will introduce myself. My name is Uther, a senior consultant to the Kingdom of Lordaeron, and I serve King Terenas."
"Hello, sir, it's a privilege to see you." Nathanos replied calmly, without continuing to say anything, without a look of surprise. He looked at the big man in front of him curiously.
Uther coughed twice, and he suddenly felt a little uncomfortable, as if his identity did not attract the child's attention. What the boy cared about was why he appeared here? Or the first question just now - why did you come to me? Uther took out Nathanos's assessment answer sheet from the bag on his waist and handed it to him.
"This is my answer!" Nathanos opened it and saw the first sentence, he knew it was his own.
"Yes, I've read your answer sheet," Uther said, "I want to know, how did you write this answer sheet?"
"This is my true thought, that's all."
"Okay." Uther thought for a while and then asked, "Child, I have another question. If you answer me, I will tell you the purpose of my coming to you."
Nathanos nodded.
"Do you believe in the Holy Light?"
The boy nodded a little.
Uther's eyes blurred for a moment, and then asked, "Do you admire the holy light?"
Nathanos shook his head decisively.
"What I just asked seemed to be the same question, kid."
"Believe is just following, but advocating must be added to the word "swearing to death" Nathanos replied calmly.
Uther opened his eyes wide, walked forward with one foot and said excitedly: "Tell me clearly, Nathanos."
"Knights follow the king and sacrifice their lives to protect the king and the country, and will question the king's wrong decisions. This is loyal follow. But if the king gives the order or even the order that may be a detrimental to heaven, the knight will still obey and execute it, and it will become a swearing to follow the holy light. In contrast, my view of the holy light comes from here. The "knight" in front is believed, and the "knight" in the back is blindly obedient."
After hearing this, Uther walked directly to Nathanos and squatted down. He reached out and touched Nathanos's face. "Who told you these truths, child?"
Nathanos shook his head and said that there was no one, and in fact he didn't know if his thoughts were right.
This time Uther changed into his hands and held Nathanos's face. "You're right, child." He stood up. Nathanos felt that he was taller than Kesius, and even had characteristics that Kesius did not have, and was strong.
"Nathanos, I want you to be my apprentice, are you willing?" Uther said his purpose. He had originally thought of this on the road, but he had to see Nathanos' talent before that, and now he is very satisfied.
“I have my own mentor.”
"I know, your mentor Kana is a monk, and Kathus, a mysterious magician, but they can teach you too little."
Nathanos shook his head: "I have another mentor, his name is Goodell, and he is a dwarf."
"Is that?" Uther said curiously: "What did he teach you?"
"Forging techniques, and fighting skills, of course he only started teaching me how to hold a sword today. I held the sword with one hand for three hours."
After hearing this, Uther remembered that Nathanos had only used one hand when he took the stool.
"It seems that I'm not the only one who finds you talented, but you can choose the better one, Nathanos, I can teach you more than that. Of course, I'm not asking you to give up on your original tutor, I mean, if you don't mind, you can have an extra tutor and I'll re-adjust your time."
"But my answer is in your hands. Does it mean I have lost the next opportunity to study?"
"Of course not." Uther smiled. The child was easy to learn. "You can still learn what you think of, and I am willing to teach you that the library of Lordaeron's Palace even has more candies than your uncle's."
Nathanos's eyes lit up, which was indeed a huge benefit. "Why did you accept me as an apprentice? My family would not agree with you and me."
Uther shook his head and placed his hands on Nathanos' shoulders. "Child, your words bind you, and everything is equal before the Holy Light."
Jonathan and Sally waited anxiously downstairs. They were not sure what was going on upstairs. After a long time, footsteps finally came from the stairs. Uther took Nathanos's hand and smiled at the surprised couple downstairs.
Today at Lordaeron's night, Uther had his first apprentice.
