Chapter 17 - Deliberately Concealing
…………
"Why do you deliberately hide it, the dead?"
After Malfurion and Nathanos came to the hidden place, the elf finally couldn't help but ask.
"There are hidden dangers to tell the truth! The most important thing is to make the Black Cruise Fortress ready to defend against the enemy as soon as possible. What would he think if you tell Ravencès that Azshara betrayed her people? Can you make sure that he will believe you? Do you think those elves who are still unaware of it will be willing to accept it? Can you make sure that the truth will not cause panic? Stop this in your heart, Malfurion, otherwise you will likely become a prisoner here!"
"But one day the truth will be revealed. How should we explain it then?"
"There is no need to explain at that time, we can only pray that Ravencès will stand opposite the Queen."
Nathanos's words made Malfurio unable to find a reason to refute. When he saw Ravencès again, he found that he no longer had the courage to tell the truth.
The Black Crull Fortress entered martial law, with more guards doubled than usual, and there were many assembled crossbows in the armory. Ravenkes had ordered the evacuation of the night elves civilians around the Black Crull Fortress. From the moment, he did nothing wrong. The only thing worth criticizing was to deliberately alienate Nathanos and Brox. They were arranged to a small square, waiting for a closer instruction. Nathanos was not dissatisfied with such behavior. He knew that Cardore did not easily believe other races, and although Ravenkes neglected them, he did not confiscate their weapons, but sent two night elves to "protect" them.
"So you were rescued by Malfurion and Tyrande."
Brox nodded, and it was really boring now, so he and Nathanos began to talk. "What about you, the undead? How did you escape from Azshara's palace?"
Nathanos would never reveal Medivh to anyone, he replied: "The Queen's attention is all on the Burning Legion, and I ran away while she is not paying attention, but I believe she must be searching for me now."
"When it comes to the Burning Legion?" The orc's eyes narrowed and he stared at Nathanos with caution, "Why are you going to deal with your master?"
"There are many things you don't know, orc. I can only tell you that I don't have a master, I'm just a lonely ghost."
"Ah, you want to say that you are a sound minded and regained freedom undead?" Brox smiled foolishly.
The orc's expression was not enough to anger the dead soul in front of him, driving the dead body. After struggling in the world of the living for so long, Nathanos had long been accustomed to prejudice and hatred. "Regain freedom? I will never be free, and my soul is imprisoned in a rotten body and cannot rest. The only thing I want to do now is to find the meaning of my existence."
Brox didn't understand what Nathanos was saying, but he was less hostile to the undead, at least he no longer needed to hold the oak battle axe when facing him.
The meeting held by Lavenketh seemed to take several hours, and Nathanos and Brox were talking endlessly. The two guards who were monitoring them had no idea what they were saying, only to make sure they would not go around. But the foreigners seemed to have a good chat, and the stronger green guy laughed.
"So you are here."
The undead and the orc turned their heads at the same time and found that Illidan, wearing a mage robe, had come over.
"I know you, brother of Stormless. Where is Malfurion? Why didn't he be with you?"
"Lord Ravenkes still has many questions to answer." The night elves smiled slightly - meaning you might have to wait - and then his golden eyes were kept on Nathanos, as if he was enjoying a work of art.
"Why are you looking at me like this?"
"I have seen many intelligent races other than Cardore, of course not including you, but I can be sure of your friends..." Illidan looked at Brox, "I can be sure he must be alive, but you..., you are dead, and I can feel your coldness two meters away from you. Can you tell me why you can still walk? Is this a kind of magic?"
"It's more appropriate to use the word 'curs', Illidan. I am indeed dead, but my soul is still burning!"
How should I deal with such an explanation? Illidan suddenly had his own opinion, "I believe that this 'curse' is painful. If you are willing to bear death, you must have made a huge sacrifice."
These two words stirred up ripples in Nathanos's heart. Sacrifice means no reward, and sacrifice means willingness. But Nathanos's original intention is not like this. There are too many accidents and too many unknown possibilities that he cannot master. Suddenly, Nathanos seemed to have obtained the answer to a question - will his appearance affect history?
"Yes, sacrifice. Two words that make people feel painful and sad!"
The serious orc turned his face toward Nathanos: "Have you ever tried to lift this...'curse'?"
"What a luxury idea, Brocks. Who of your comrades who died on the battlefield has come back to life?"
Everyone calmed down, and the solemn atmosphere was broken by Nathanos. He looked at the direction Illidan was walking towards him, and the mage clearly participated in Ravenketh's meeting.
"Illidan, how is the situation inside?"
Brox cheered up, and the orcs could hardly bear it. He had witnessed the evil deeds done by the Burning Legion, and even though these were things that only happened in the future, he still couldn't bear it.
"Are you going to kill the demon? I'm the one."
"The lords and nobles are more keen to save the queen than to deal with the demons."
"When it comes to this, Illidan." Nathanos asked curiously, "What kind of person do you think Queen Azshara is?"
"I won't worship the queen blindly like other Cadores." The mage tried to lower his voice as much as possible when he said this. "The queen is beautiful and respected, but I have to say that her palace is too extravagant, and there are the upper elves who follow her. Those guys just know how to flatter."
"So...you have doubts about Azshara, right?" Nathanos nodded slightly. He already knew Illidan's attitude, thinking in his heart how good it would be if Ravenkes were as good as him.
