Chapter 34 - Exchange
…………
Giznok moved little by little along a desert path to the outside of the Trial Valley. He had just passed dawn and had not yet woken up, but there was something important waiting for him. He walked quietly, and in the narrow valley, the sound of footsteps would become very obvious, although he was a short goblin. Half of the sun was hanging above his head, and the sunlight was enough for him to tell what was around him, and the wind was hanging "whistling", and in addition, there was silence in the mountains.
Just as he was about to reach the entrance of the valley, he heard something else, the sound of paced back and forth.
It was an orc, leaning against the stone wall, gasping heavily, looking around, looking a little uncomfortable. Giznock knew he was late, but a good night's sleep was crucial for the engineer.
"Hey!" the goblin called.
"I'm here." The orc responded.
Giznok nodded, he had seen orcs long ago.
"Aren't you the slave owner of the druid and the female thief?" Giznock rubbed his eyes and said, "Is it the message you sent me?"
"I am Rega Earth Wrath." replied the Orc, "I thought you would pay more attention to Logosh than Bol and Valilla."
"Yes." The goblin replied, patting his short trouser legs, making a negotiator's attitude. "Then why are you looking for me?" He spoke very slowly, as if he had taken the initiative.
"Very good." Rega glanced around to ensure there were no eavesdroppers. "Based on my observation, you should not be a slave."
"Why do you say that?"
Rega smiled, "I have never heard of you, this is the first reason. The second is that goblins will not work as slave owners, because it costs a lot of money to train a gladiator, not to mention that the risk of duel performance is too high. If you don't pay attention, the gladiators may die on the battlefield. Goblins always value risks in their business."
"It seems you know goblins very well, big guy." Gitznock nodded, "Please continue."
"I won't go around the circle anymore, just say it, I want to buy your undead gladiator. I can give you a good price, enough for you to pursue a career with lower risks." Rega said calmly, bowing down so that he could observe the goblin more easily. "What do you think?"
"Very good advice," Gitznock replied, unable to suppress the smile on his face, "How much are you planning to pay?"
"One thousand gold coins." Rega said boldly. He guessed that the goblin would try his best to increase the price, so he planned to spend more money to block the short man's green-skinned mouth from the beginning. "This price should be appropriate."
Surprisingly, Giznock waved his hand and said it was okay, "The money is suitable." He pointed out, "but I can give it a discount."
Raiga thought he had heard it wrong, the more surprised he was, the brighter the goblin's smile became. "Are you kidding? It's better."
"The goblins never do business at a loss," Gitznock hinted.
"Then you..." The orc blinked and suddenly realized that this little guy had other conditions. "Say whatever he wants." He added, "No need to beat around the bush, I have heard of the greed of the goblins."
Giznock considered his words and rubbed each other casually with his hands, "Thank you for your praise, in fact, my price is five hundred gold coins and two of the three gladiators under your command,"
"What!" Rega punched the stone wall of the valley in a threatening tone - maybe he was trying to hide his disgust for the goblins - but it seemed like he was threatening, "Two!" He deliberately slowed down his speech, allowing the two words to solidify in the silence of dawn.
“Your price is too expensive.”
"Oh?" Giznok raised his chin and said slowly, "I don't think so. Your three gladiators have failed. Their reputation has plummeted. It is useless to you. I can realize their final value."
"Value? What value?"
"The value of his gate itself, I want that human and that druid." The goblin smiled again, leaned back against the rock, obviously complacent about his ability to control the situation. "Logosh can be my bodyguard, he should be easier to control than my undead. The druid can be transformed into different forms for people to watch." He said confidently. "He can sell for a good price."
Wrath of the Earth considered it. He could have let the two gladiators play their respective "characters" as the goblin said, but it would be a pity to do so. It would be nice to use Logosh and Broll to exchange for a stronger gladiator. He could recruit a stronger gladiator than Broll to replace him. "Your little abacus is very good, little goblin. I promise you when will the transaction be made?"
"I have to give a good explanation to my gladiator," replied Giznock, clapping his hands like a child. "You should say goodbye to your people, and trade here at dusk."
"Very good." Rega smiled, "but there's a change." He pulled out a rolled piece of parchment from his belt and gave it to Giznock. "This is a map of the area," he explained. "I marked the place of the transaction."
The goblin expanded the map and studied it. "Yes, the map is very clear."
"Okay." The orc glanced at the goblin. He always felt something was wrong, but he couldn't find any problem. "Then I'll go back to my people." He paused for a while and then said.
The goblin nodded, but said nothing. Rega Earth Wrath turned and left quickly. For a moment, Giznock considered following him, and with the goblin's agile skill, he could end the orc with a simple and quick blow - that would allow him to get the three gladiators directly. But the Withered One forbid him from doing this: this orc is still valuable, and he may be an important guide for the Forgotten to attack the next target.
The Withered One's plan is almost unmatched. Giznok's heart is powered by gold coins. This is not a lie, everything is within his plan.
He glanced at the map again, and the location marked with a red fork was located in an oasis in the Barrens.
The orc would not betray his promise. He would follow the marked road on the map, and if that road was indeed fast and convenient and would not be intercepted by the Union army, he would fulfill his promise.
