Chapter 15 - Oronok
…………
Even those who are familiar with Shadow Moon Valley will fall into a misunderstanding, that is, they believe that this land will produce some herbs with strange magic, and there will be no other plants. However, on the northernmost hill of Shadow Moon Valley, near the twisted void, the most difficult place to notice, is full of moisture-filled Shadow Moon tuber everywhere - these magical vegetation is not natural. There is an old orc with gray hair living here. He only has three things to do every day, digging out tubers, taming wild boars, and dealing with stone peelers who attack wild boars - a humanoid creature similar to a mantis.
The orc's name is Oronoke, a warlock who is proficient in demonic talent, but he has not used this power for many years, which has caused his skin to change from the original dark green to the light green. Oronoke was very surprised by this change. He firmly believed that this was the result of staying away from evil magic. He was very excited and believed that this was the proof of his redemption.
Living in Shadow Moon Valley was not easy, but he survived, did not succumb to the demons, nor did he surrender to the Illidan Rage Wind, he found a settlement on the edge of the continent, set up a simple tent with a dried animal skin, and put a fence around the tent to facilitate him to raise wild boars - the main source of his life food.
Oronoke had three sons, but none of them were by his side, only his mount, a roar wolf named Dark Howling accompanied him. His sons were all sent out by him to carry out a mission. Before they set out, Oronoke told them that the mission was very dangerous and they might die, but this was the best way for orcs to make up for their past mistakes, and their souls would be forgiven by their ancestors.
After the three children left, the orc lived alone. Day after day, even he forgot how long it had passed.
Today, Oronoke always took a wild boar to the cliff outside his residence near the edge of Shadow Moon Valley. It was very dangerous. If he was not careful, he would fall into the abyss of twisting voids. However, only in this harsh environment can he collect Shadow Moon tubers used to feed wild boars. He must be careful, because the danger not only comes from the terrain, but also hides in the darkness. This is his experience in seclusion in more than ten years.
Oronoke whistled, followed his wild boar and made a "hum" sound, and began to search on the dry ground, while not forgetting to dig the soil with his hooves. The orc followed behind it, waiting patiently.
The crisis is also coming quietly.
Some stones fell off the cliff and disappeared after a brief sound of rolling down. What caused this small change? It could never be the wind. There is no wind in the Shadow Moon Valley!
The orc blocked the cane he carried with him and shouted to the surroundings: "Get out, you beasts!" Orunoke was very familiar with this sound, and only when the stone-striker's claws dug the tunnel, would it cause such a sound.
Several holes were instantly exploded on the soil layer on the ground, and six or seven stone peelers jumped out, Zhang Yawu grabbed the ground and stared at Oronoke and his baby wild boar.
"It's so many!" The orc was shocked. He regretted not coming out with a secret howl today, and could not cope with these greedy predators alone.
The wild boar of Oronoke had just dug out a tuber hidden underground, and before he could enjoy it, he was frightened by the uninvited guests. The orcs made special sounds from time to time to comfort it. In fact, Oronoke could completely abandon the wild boar because it was the real target of the stone-strikers. But as an orc, it was shameful to choose to escape in a battle, not to mention that as long as he gave in, these hunters would attack his residence with great difficulty in the next step in order to get more wild boar meat.
Unconsciously, Oronoke felt the blood in his body getting hot, and his hands gradually became full of strength, but the orcs were very uneasy about it. He tried to stabilize his breathing and heartbeat. He had been doing this for the past decade. Oronoke vowed not to use the power of the demon again, forever!
"Come on!" The orc let out a battle cry, and one of the stone strippers rushed up, jumped into the air, raised his sickle-like right hand to send a sweep at Oronoke's head. The orc bent over and tricked away, and at the same time raised his cane to hit the stone stripper's abdomen, threw it back and forth, the unlucky guy fell off the cliff and disappeared into the twisted void.
Seeing that the stone-skinners who had disappeared with their companions did not retreat, the second guy rushed over immediately. He kept waving his claws up and down, and he slowed down to try to compress the space for Oronoke's action. The orc grinned, stared at the enemy's hollow abdomen, and patiently waited for him to approach.
"Go to hell!" Oronoke's cane poked over, and the rash stone-stripper took a few steps back in pain. The orc did not give any chance. The cane swung hard and slammed the guy's head hard, and even heard the sound of bone shattering.
After another one was solved, Orunoke couldn't help but smile, but the price was to make the remaining stone peelers even more crazy. They rushed up together and vowed to dismantle the delicious meal. The orcs had already thought that this might happen. Once the stone peelers rushed forward, it would be difficult for him to gain any advantage in melee skills.
At this moment, Orunoke had only one thought left in his mind. His hand trembled and touched the bag around his waist, which contained something that could save his life. However, the orcs were unwilling to use it. He didn't even want to recall that he was a warlock and was the same type of person as the guy who led the orc clan to the twisted path.
When he thought of Gul'dan, Oronoke took his hand back in disgust. He would rather die than use the power of the demon again.
The orc let out a deafening roar and rushed forward. He blocked the barb with his weapon. The cane broke from the middle and became more lethal. Oronoke used the spikes exposed at one end to pierce the neck of a stone stripper, and then smashed the face of another close to the guy with his fist. But as he did these actions, his back and right leg were more or less blood-stained by the stone stripper's claws.
"You bunch of miscellaneous things!" Oronoke quenched his mouth. He was hit and retreated step by step, not even noticed that he had been forced to the edge of the cliff. The orc accidentally stepped on the air, and his whole body lost its center of gravity and fell down. After screaming in panic, Oronoke hurriedly grabbed the raised stones in the rock formation and stabilized his body.
Staring at the gap between the Hellfire Peninsula and Shadow Moon Valley on land, there is a bottomless abyss below, but what Urunock sees now is a vast white area. The orc doesn't know what will happen if he falls, and he doesn't want to fall. If he really wants to die, he also wants to die in this world once called Draenor.
"Catch me up, you bastards." The orc shouted to the stone stripper above, "Come and save your spoils, at least when you tear my body open, my blood can be sprinkled on this land!" He sighed, thinking in his heart how to pray for forgiveness to his ancestors if he saw him after his death.
But when he thought that a stone peeler would soon get him up with his claws, he heard the sound of a fight. Oronoke stared at the top with gritted teeth, and he couldn't see what was going on. Do these guys still want to torture him? Or are they fighting for hard-earned food? Thinking about it carefully, Oronoke felt that the latter situation was more likely. If the stone peelers were united enough, they would not have killed three companions by themselves.
However, things seemed to be beyond his imagination. Soon, the first guy competing for food fell off the top and almost hit the orc.
"What are you doing?" Orunoke cursed. He looked down and confirmed that the guy who fell was the guy who was hit by his punch just now. The orcs were very strange. Even if they were for food, they would not be able to harm their lives.
Then the second and third fell down, the former's hand was cut off, and the latter's head disappeared. The orc looked up nervously, and the last stone-striker's figure flew over him, making a terrifying and harsh scream, falling down the abyss.
Orunoke stared at the place where the poor guy disappeared.
Still the same question: What exactly happened?
"Give me your hand."
A voice came from above his head, and the orc looked up in a hurry. He wanted to see an orc, a guy who came to save him. But the other party's fearsome red eyes almost scared him to slip away.
