Chapter 38 - Evidence
…………
"For the Forgotten," Nathanos whispered, kicking on the demon's back. The demon fell forward, and the green blood gathered into a pool of blood under him, and the monster could no longer stand up.
"We have occupied this place, the Withered." A death hunter reported. His sleeves were covered with blood, his expression was unstoppable, and his eyes were shining. "The reinforcements of the blood elves were not found. Most of the demons were wiped out, and the escaped ones were stopped."
Nathanos saw his soldiers cleaning the battlefield, and the bodies of the Forsaken and the Demon were lying on the ground in an interlaced manner. He also saw the magic mechas staying on the magic base. If these things were activated, they would have absolutely no chance of winning.
"Catch Merel for me." The death hunter immediately ran to execute the order, while Nathanos inspected it one by one, thinking about how much help these magical mechas could bring to the Forgotten.
Just as Nathanos turned around, Merriel came over, and on him, the Withered One saw his robe covered in blood. As soon as he saw him, Nathanos asked, "I guess, that Abyss Lord is very powerful, right?"
"How could the legion let a powerful demon guard such a small base?" The mage smiled. He knew that he looked embarrassed because the battle just now was even more serious than expected. "I also met a lord Ereda named Socresa. He delayed me some time."
"It's fine if you're fine." Nathanos nodded. He wanted to turn his eyes to look around. The Forsaken people who didn't have to clean the battlefield were transporting various supplies from the magic base according to his instructions, as well as the design drawings of the Fel Cannon and Magic Mecha, as well as some unknown devices, which would make the Forsaken even stronger. But Merriel's eyes seemed to have something else, which made the Withered people ask again: "What else?"
"It's true..." Nathanos's eyes became alert when he saw Merriel slowly approaching.
"I received this from Socresa, but I think only you can decide what to do with it." Merriel reached out and pulled out a delicate letter from his belt, shaped like a letter of appointment.
"What is this?" Nathanos saw the Phoenix Wings tag above, guessing that it should be something from Kelthus, but it appeared on the demon.
"The evidence of the blood elves colluding with the Burning Legion," Merriel explained, but Nathanos was not interested, and he didn't even go to pick it up and read what was written on it.
He turned his head and his voice gradually lowered: "This seems to have nothing to do with us, please lose it."
"But maybe Quel'thalas needs this intelligence..."
Both of them fell into silence for a long time, and then Nathanos spoke: "Someone has reported it before, and Quelthalas has learned about the betrayal of Kelthus. This letter is a little nicer, but it is just the icing on the cake."
"The elves must not have had conclusive evidence yet." Merriel pointed out: "The fact that Kelthus betrayed must be the astrologers or the tribes told them, but the elves themselves did not see it with their own eyes." The mage came behind the Withering One and whispered: "Kelthus has a high prestige. Some blood elves must not believe that he will betray them, and those elves who choose to believe in the facts must also have doubts in their hearts." Merriel held the letter in his hand and shook it, "This letter can dispel their doubts."
"You want to hand the letter to Quel'thalas? What's the benefit of this forgotten?"
"Any elves who take this letter to Quel'thalas will become the hero of that kingdom."
Nathanos asked with his eyes narrowed, "Hero?"
"The elves' kingdom has given status very generously. Any elves who have made outstanding contributions to Quelthalas will gain a very high status. The higher the elves' status, the more information they can detect."
"Tell me the letter." Nathanos thought carefully about Merriel's words and became interested in it. The mage's serious explanation surprised him, and he thought Merriel would use some past events to test his patience.
The Withered Man looked at the letter in his hand and frowned: "But the prerequisite for this is that there must be an elves who have been to the Outlands. Belmont told me that the tribe has strictly prohibited the blood elves of Quelthalas from going to the Outlands."
"There is a large group of blood elves inside Shatas, and there are always a few of them who want to return to their hometown. They can be used just in time."
Nathanos has already got the answer to the question, but he still feels there are potential hidden dangers, "Then it is safer to do this matter, try to win over a blood elf mage."
"I understand this." Merell nodded and smiled. He was not planning to leave. The Withered man looked back at him for the third time, wondering what else he had.
“About Onyxia?”
"She has value in use, and I will catch her."
Merell was shocked. Why did Nathanos never say such a big thing? He was a little angry, "How sure are you, what are you going to do?"
In a moment, his frown brows destroyed Nathanos' calm expression. His voice also became sharp. "I never do things that I cannot be sure of." Nathanos groaned and glared at Merriel, as if telling the other party that he was the leader of the Forgotten One. However, the Withered One knew that Merriel was just worried about him, so he did not verbally blame the mage, but just said: "The other member of the Twelve Swords is on the way. Lasovios also acted as a double-faced spy. It was foolproof."
"You shouldn't hide it." Merriel said with a voice that squeezed out. The anger in his chest pressed him tightly, making the tone of his voice strange when he spoke. "You should tell me."
"Should?" Nathanos repeated Merriel's words, and he stared at the other party. The mage read a lot of meaning in those eyes: Why do I tell you? Who are you, can you decide what I have to do and what I can't do? What qualifications do you have to judge me?
But in the end, Nathanos did not say these hurtful words. He could have such emotions, but the consequences were not what he wanted to see. "Others don't know, I just don't want to expose the identity of the member of the Twelve Swords."
Faced with these somewhat reasonable remarks, Merriel opened his eyes a little wide. But he refused to give up. "You should trust your people, Nathanos."
