Chapter 5 - The Blacksmith
…………
It was late at night, and the Jonathans and his wife became more and more anxious. Nathanos had not come back yet. There were too many fruits today. It was too late after all made into jam. Nathanos had not come back. Sally cried in a hurry. Jonathan realized the seriousness of the problem and immediately went to the church, but it was closed and there was no one. Jonathan searched for a long time but did not see Nathanos. He searched several streets in a row, and finally found Nathanos on a street with few people. He was obviously attracted by something.
Jonathan immediately ran to him, grabbed him and shouted, "Where have you been? Nathanos, I've been looking for you for a long time. Do you know how worried your aunt Sally is about you? What are you doing here?"
Nathanos was startled by Jonathan's fierce shaking, and he was nervously unable to speak at the first time. Jonathan felt that his behavior had gone a little, and he sighed, as long as he found Nathanos, he smiled and touched the boy's head to calm the atmosphere. Nathanos's rapid breathing slowly sootheed. Jonathan suddenly remembered that Nathanos seemed to be attracted by something just now. He looked at it and wanted to know what Nathanos saw. It was a blacksmith shop, which was still open at this time. At the door was a dwarf. Lordaeron was very open to foreign races, especially elves and dwarfs. There were many elves and dwarfs shops in the city. This blacksmith shop was an example. The dwarf looked at his uncle and nephew in surprise. He wiped his sweat and walked in front of them.
"I'm sorry, my nephew has caused you inconvenience, Mr. Dwarf." Jonathan thought the other party was here to seek punishment, so he immediately bowed deeply.
Nathanos watched the dwarf walk towards him, a little shorter than himself, a big brown beard, perhaps a symbol of their age.
"Don't blame yourself, sir." The dwarf's beard moved, and he replied with a smile, stretching out his clean right hand. Jonathan also reached out to respond. After shaking hands friendly, the dwarf introduced himself: "Hello, my name is Goodell."
"Jonathan Maris, this is my nephew Nathanus Maris."
Goodell nodded. He finally knew the name of the child. Nathanos stayed outside his shop for more than four hours and kept his distance. When Goodell first noticed him, he thought he was hungry or thirsty, but no matter what Goodell gave him, Nathanos would only shake his head and refuse. No matter what he asked him, he remained silent. Goodell wanted to know why he stayed here and looked at him, thinking that Nathanos had never seen a "uncle" shorter than him. Later, Goodell discovered that it was not him who attracted Nathanos, but the hammer in his hand and the pig iron on the kang.
"You seem to be very interested in ironwork, boy." Goodall said. Jonathan also looked at Nathanos. The little boy hesitated for a moment and nodded bravely.
"Sorry, this kid came to Lordaeron on the first day and was curious about everything."
Goodell shook his head and retorted: "I've seen many children like him, and their more focus is whether my beard will be ignited by the rising Mars. None of them stands like him, staring at me with all concentration. I'm glad to know him, and you, Jonathan. If you don't mind, I want to accept him as my apprentice, how do you think?"
Jonathan was a little embarrassed. Although this was a good thing, Nathanos was about to start learning in the church, which might delay him. But before Jonathan could respond, Nathanos pulled him hard, his eyes full of desire. Looking at Nathanos' excited expression, although he didn't say a word, Jonathan could still understand what he meant. He couldn't bear to make his nephew sad, so he asked Goodell: "This is great, but Nathanos already has his own mentor, which may delay him, but you also saw that he was very curious about your skills. I don't know how you plan to teach him?"
Goodell touched his beard and looked at Nathanos. Hope was reflected in the little boy's eyes. Goodell made up his mind that no matter the child's talent, he would accept him as an apprentice. "How much time does he have every day in class?"
"I wanted him to help in my candy shop throughout the morning and afternoon, and his father wanted him to gain experience in business."
"So that's it, let him come back after dinner until the moon rises to the highest sky. I will teach him how to become an excellent blacksmith, and then I will send him home in person. Is this OK?"
Jonathan thought about it, but before he could answer, Nathanos spoke first: "Okay!" just one word, but seemed to be full of energy. Jonathan nodded after hearing it. Goodall was very happy, and he reached out and pinched Nathanos' face. "Good boy, see you tomorrow."
The blacksmith shop closed, but kept Nathanos's heart. Although it was understandable, Jonathan still blamed Nathanos on the road, telling the boy that your curiosity is not a reason to worry about his loved ones.
…………
Nathanos's study in the church was very single, learning the Way of the Holy Light and human words. Nathanos was very interested in the second guest, but he did not show it. As for the Holy Light, even if he was not interested, he had to understand what the Holy Light was. Kana was particularly concerned about Nathanos, but compared to Grey and Katha, he was too quiet. He didn't say a word or ask a question, as if he was not the whole church. But the child sitting next to Nathanos was the opposite. Kana noticed that the child liked to talk to Nathanos. Although the answer he received was either nodding or a "grand", he never gave up.
"My name is Lerain, what are your name?"
“Nathanos.”
"Nathanos?" Leren repeated, and then said: "This name sounds like a hero's name, what do you think?"
Nathanos seemed to have not heard of this problem. His attention was still on the "Notes of the Holy Light" in his hand, and even his ears might have blocked Kana's teachings. Lerenn was not angry at him when he ignored him. On the contrary, he was even more curious about Nathanos.
After class, Kana had left, but other children were left behind. Gray stood on the podium and announced something like a big man. "My name is Gray Meynes, the son of garrison Garred Meynes." He excitedly announced his identity, and the children below were talking, not knowing what he was going to do.
"That's right, I'm going to create a guild." Grey announced happily. "I hope you can join my guild."
“What is a guild?”
"A guild is a group. We can help each other, solve problems together, organize activities together, and if someone bullies you, the guild will definitely support you."
Gray said the new thing "guild" is very attractive. Many children below said they wanted to join, and there was only one condition for joining, which was to let Gray serve as the president.
"Kasha, would you like to join?" Gray smiled and looked at the cute girl. He liked Kasha very much. Not only because of his intelligence, he felt that Kasha also came from the official family.
"It sounds very interesting, I'll join." Kasha laughed, lively and lively.
Leren, who was sitting at the end, punched his book with his fist. "This damn guy." Leren stared at Gray carefully. He didn't like Gray because the other party always had the aura of an official child, arrogant and looked down on people. "Nathanos, do you know that he deliberately invited Kasha. Just now, the people who first said that they joined the "guild" thing were his followers, his father was a garrison officer, and those children were all able to teach here by his father, and he was the same."
