Chapter 25 - The Voice

…………

Veronara followed the three people. No one would welcome the undead, but the curiosity of the Dark Ranger drove her. The man with a high hat might take her to see the Kingdom of Gilness. They even obtained some of the things that were about to happen in this kingdom from each other's conversation.

"Lord Golfrey, we don't seem to find any trace of him."

"You and Blake are both the best hunters in the kingdom. You also know the purpose of our trip and the amount of responsibility contained therein. Don't let me down." Gao Frey pulled his hat down.

After many observations, Veronara has determined that the man is much more armed than the two men in the same shape. The sword hanging around his waist is the most obvious weapon, and there is a short gun hidden under his clothes. There is also a dark sword hidden in his crutch.

Responsibility? Veronara carefully considered what important tasks they should be carrying out.

"Move fast, you must not let the rebels be one step ahead of us." A sentence from Golfre reminded the Dark Ranger. Veronara suddenly realized. There had been news that civil strife broke out in Gilness, and a force called the "North Gate Rebel" put the city in crisis. Their leader Crore openly resisted Greymann, and there were even rumors that he was assisting the alliance.

The civil war was tightly grasping the country. The royal city was attacked by Gilnis' own subjects, and smoke was everywhere. Veronara wanted to know what Nathanos would do during this turbulent period? The Forgotten was in the north of Gilnis. Will he be able to attack Gilnis at this time? After all, someone has done the same thing. The tribe's fleet has occupied the coast of the northwest corner of the kingdom and is ready to take down Gilnis on the brink of collapse at any time. No, with the long-range plan of the Withered One, he would never sit idly by and watch the tribe do so arbitrarily.

"I'm here, Golfrey."

A strange cry brought Veronara back from his thoughts. It seemed that Golfre had found the person they were looking for. The man came out from behind a tree, burly, but pale, and seemed to be suffering from severe pain, so that his breathing seemed very rapid.

"King Gene!" Mistermanto revealed the identity of this person. Veronara could only describe her mood with surprise.

"You're injured?" said Mistermanto.

Gene gasped, he was obviously injured, but he chose to hide it. "No, I was just scared, I thought you were rebels."

The dark ranger who visited in the distance saw the old king lying. Gene's collar was pulled high, trying his best to cover something.

"I'm so glad you're fine, your majesty." Golfre took off his hat and bowed slightly. "We must leave here immediately to go to a safe place. The Kingdom also needs you to take charge of the overall situation."

"Yes, old friend. It's really not safe here!" Gene breathed a sigh of relief, breathing briefly and nervously, as if he had deceived them.

After the group walked away, Veronara did not follow him. Gene's appearance would inevitably lead to more supporters, and it would be dangerous to continue stalking. But she was curious, what did Gene do here? Did he encounter a rebel? If so, there should be traces of rebels here. The Dark Ranger began to search everywhere. Gene was injured, proving that he had fought and killed the people who attacked him, and at the same time he would not move at large scale.

When she was exploring in depth, Veronara could easily smell the faint smell of blood, and she continued to search along the smell...

"Interesting." She said. The werewolf's corpse was hidden in the bushes. There was still blood on the exposed claws, which must not be its blood. "Now things are getting interesting." Veronara turned her gaze and looked in the direction where Gene and others disappeared.

...

The salt and parasites in the sea water will only accelerate the decay of the body. Nathanos knew all this and could only choose the black fog form to enter the deep sea. On the sea, he saw the wreckage of warships, including alliances and tribals. Scattered supplies floated at will, and along with them were the corpses of orcs and humans.

Naga alone probably cannot do this level. The witherers judged that they were subjected to some more terrifying attacks.

The situation under the sea seemed to be even more complicated. In a sinking Alliance ship, he was surprised to find that there was actually a space that was not submerged by sea water. Nathanos was very glad that he still had the chance to turn back into a human form.

"The Shaman's trick!" The Withered Man murmured. In this vacant cabin, there were discarded human armor and blood-stained bandages. The Alliance had a brief stop here, and then encountered Naga's attack and had to be transferred, otherwise it could be regarded as a small stronghold.

After a brief stay, Nathanos continued to grop in the deep sea. During this period, he saw Naga soldiers wandering around and a goblin creature living under the water. However, these were not what he was looking for. As one of the few undead who controls powerful dark powers, he was very sensitive to some spiritual things, such as the resentment of the dead and the obsession of the soul. When he came to the bottom of the sea, he felt that there was a vague and empty sound in this sea area, which deeply attracted him.

This sound was a guide, bringing him to somewhere in the ruins of the building that sank under the sea.

"The Past of Kadore." Nathanos sighed. Most of the night elves empire were hidden under the waves, because their queen made a foolish decision. The attempt to bring the Burning Legion into this world made Azshara pay a tragic price. But the Withered Ones noticed a long time ago that there were many Naga activities in Kalimdo. Most of them appeared near the ruins of the upper elves that have been preserved to this day. In their range, they could always see a female statue of a twisted form, half man and half snake, and a peerless and beautiful face. Nathanos had seen Azshara and would never forget her appearance. All signs indicate that the queen who claimed to be noble was still alive, but changed her form, just like her servants.

Tens of thousands of years have passed, and I don’t know what Azshara is doing now.

Nathanos stopped and began to search the ruins carefully, and the anger and hatred hidden in the voice became stronger and stronger, as if calling him.

"Weapon?" The Witherer found something wailing. His mist form surrounded a piece of metal discarded in the ruins, a fragment of a long-handled weapon that was broken. This surprised him, and at the same time he realized that the source of the sound must be the owner of the weapon, but Nathanos could not feel her soul.
