Chapter Eleven - The Eve of War

…………

He handed a glass of water to the messenger's hand. Before drinking it, the messenger said sadly: "My mission has failed."

Jaina was confused all of a sudden. The person who drank water in front of her was only responsible for sending a warning to the people of the Northern Castle that the tribe might come, but he said that his mission failed, which means that the news was not sent to the Northern Castle. What exactly happened? The female mage said: "Slow down and try to be detailed."

"The northern castle has turned into ruins."

Jaina and everyone who heard the news gasped. No one dared to say a word, but just resolved the news in his mind. Sylvanas, who had recovered from the shock, walked to the map and gestured with his hands the distance between the northern castle and Theramore.

"I captured the northern castle with the tower and strong city so quickly. The tribe must have been planning for a long time. What is the current situation of the northern castle? How many troops are there to launch an attack? Have you seen it?"

General Ranger's tone was a bit aggressive, and the battle was urgent, so she needed more reliable news.

The messenger thought carefully and quickly replied: "There is only a pile of gravel left in the tower and the city wall. There are many gray-black smoke pillars in the castle. I dare not get too close, and I can only see the flags of the Dark Spear Troll and the Taurus."

"The vanguard of the tribe." Bern said with a serious expression, "It is really worrying that the Hellscream army did not appear on the battlefield."

"Maybe it's already on the way to get here." Sylvanas looked at Jaina, and now the ruler of Theramore needs to make a decision.

Jaina's face was a little pale. The tribe must have been well prepared to capture the northern castle so quickly, and the Ramaud had no clear war deployment.

"They must be more soldiers," said Jaina. "And we are not ready yet. I think it's hard for us to resist the frontal army of Hellscream alone. It's time to ask for help from all parties."

"Then we should move quickly," said Sylvanas. "If the aid is not arrived in time, or is not prompt enough, we will be done. I immediately contact Dalaran's Silver Covenant Force to get them together quickly."

"Thank you, Sylvanas." Jaina squeezed out a smile, but she couldn't feel relaxed.

General Ranger nodded and walked to the table. "The Northern Castle has fallen." She stretched out a slender finger to point at the map. "And this is Theramore." She retracted her finger and moved to the right. "This is the Fern Wall Village. Some ogres live here, but it is not a military stronghold. The tribe cannot station here. They will definitely attack the outer defense of Theramore. We must seize the time to gather all the people who can be mobilized in the mud swamp, and..." The female elf paused, "There are also survivors who rescued the northern fortress. If there are still people who survived."

The northern fortress had been turned into ruins, and Jaina recalled the words of the messenger in pain, which meant that most of them were dead.

"We also need to grasp the movements of the tribe." Sylvanas did not notice the subtle expression on Jaina's face, but instead focused his eyes on Bern. "At least you have to know Garrosh's march route."

Ben nodded, "I guarantee as the head of Theramore intelligence that I will find Hellscream traces in the shortest time."

"The second is the sea. We only have a few warships and more than a dozen cruisers. But that's not enough. All ships that can travel far must be requisitioned." She used her fingers to the location of Theramore on the map, and then drew a long straight line eastward until Storm City did not stop. "This is the worst result." Sylvanas looked at Jaina. The female mage also stared at her in horror.

The atmosphere instantly dropped to freezing point. Jaina showed a bitter smile and responded to Sylvanas: "What you said seems like the tribe has won. I don't accept this."

"Just just in case," said Sylvanas. "There are many civilians in the city, many elderly people and children, and we have to consider them." The female elf originally wanted to continue to explain, but the sound of knocking outside the glass window shifted everyone's eyes.

It was the reflection of a bird of prey. Bern wanted to rush over and drive it away so that it would not continue to disturb important meetings. But when the night elf opened the window, the bird actually flew in, wet, and seemed to have been flying for a long time in the rainy weather. Jaina soon thought of Medivh, and the former guardian was used to appearing in people's sight in this way. Perhaps... she stared at the crow and widened her eyes.

It began to grow, deform, and in a blink of an eye, a guy taller than everyone present stood up in the place where the bird of prey was perched—a tauren. Jaina gasped and recognized him—they had seen him at Thal’s wedding.

"You!" The female mage with golden hair looked at the sudden visitor. "I know you."

"But you may not be able to say my name." The Taurus' thick lips outlined a smile. Jaina's face was a little red. Indeed, she only had an impression of the other person in terms of appearance. "But Bern may know who I am."

The night elves never called the guards to capture the intruders from beginning to end, after all, the other party came from a tribe. As the Tauren said, Bene did know his identity. "The best friend of the Great Druid's Storm Wind, Hamuel Rune Totem. He is a member of the Senario Conference." Bene introduced.

"Welcome to Theramore, Hamuel," said Jaina, "for some reason what purpose do you have?"

"I heard the alertness from your words, Ms. Prodmore." Hamuel said to her, "It seems that you already know about the Castle in the North."

"Not only that, we also know that it is the work of the Taurus and the Troll." Sylvanas came to the middle of the two and asked in more intuitive words: "If you don't come to help us, please leave."

"If I hadn't come to help you, I wouldn't have come all the way."

Sylvanas and Jaina looked at each other, and the female mage nodded, and the Ranger General made a step away.

"We are in need of the voice of the tribe," said Jaina.

Hamuel cleared his throat, "When I came here, I checked Theramore's deployment. Please be honest, you may not be prepared."

"We have only been a few days since we received the news of the tribe invasion." The great wizard Twash explained, "and it wasn't even time to figure out why you suddenly attacked us."

The Taurus stood there in a daze, shocked by Twash's words. He remembered that Bain had mentioned that the tribe was preparing to attack Theramore was a top secret for the top leaders, and almost only the tribe leaders knew about it. Even Hamuel had only heard Bain mention it recently.

"You know? Then I won't talk nonsense anymore. The Hellscream army will arrive in only three days at most, all of them will march from the land, and..." Hamuel's expression suddenly became painful, as if he had thought of something, "He also prepared a bomb... I think you all heard about what happened in the Stone Claw Mountains."

Jaina stayed in place completely and could only cover her mouth with her hands to hide her horror. She hoped that Hamuel was just making a joke, but no one would like the joke.

"What should we do?"

Desperately, no one answered Jaina, and even Sylvanas closed his eyes and fell into silence.

Hamuel is sorry for bringing bad news, "Chief Bain encountered a rebellion when he was just taking on the role of leader, and you extended a helping hand to him. He has always kept it in mind, so he asked me to come and warn you. He doesn't want to catch you off guard."

Jaina swallowed. "Bain is a truly respectable tauren. I am grateful for his timely warning. He did this to save innocent lives."

"He regrets that all he can do is to give a warning, ma'am." Hamuel slowly walked towards the window, where he came. "He also promised you that he would not appear on the battlefield of Theramore. But as his adviser, I would also like to ask you to agree that no special envoy of Taurus has visited you. No matter who asks you, please say that an alliance spy has investigated Hellscream's plan and reported this news to you." Rune totem slowly turned back into a raptor. "May Mother Earth smile at you, ma'am. I hope you can safely survive this storm."

…………

"Bomb?" Nathanos's fishing rod shook slightly, and fishing across the river in the twilight forest could help him pass the time. The cottage behind him was a stronghold for the members of the Brotherhood, and he was temporarily requisitioned to hide his traces. Not long ago, Vanessa Van Rikff's operation in the Western Wilderness failed and was forced to return to Stormwind City and continue to hide as Talbert.

"Yes." Belmont stood beside him and nodded, "It is said that the power is even more terrifying than the one Cromga used at the time."

Nathanos remembered the orc, "Speaking of it, Kromga has been resurrected, right?"

"Yes, he is already a Death Knight and is clamoring to avenge Hellscream."

"Without my orders, he is not allowed to act rashly." said the Withering One.

"I will hit him all the time," said Belmont. "Master, do you want to tell Theramore about the bomb?"

"Without the focus rainbow and no bombs, Garrosh would think of other alternatives." Nathanos slowly put away the fishing rod, and he turned to look at Belmont, "The chief was determined to destroy Theramore and could not be stopped."

"In that case, Jaina Prodmore can only leave the city and escape?"

"No!" Nathanos shook his head, "She dared not do this."

Belmont expressed his confusion, and the Withered did not say anything more, asking, "How long will it take to contact my naive cousin?"

"He needs some time, Stephen Maris is rushing back to Stormwind."

"Very good." Nathanos smiled, and he put a slender item wrapped in linen into Belmont's hand. The process made him feel mixed emotions. The linen had almost killed him. He had been carefully kept for so many years, waiting for an opportunity to deliver the thing to its original owner. Now, the opportunity has come. "I will go to Theramore in person, and use this arrow to deal with the brother of Tobias before I come back."

...

"It may be too late to send everyone away overnight." Tewash watched Jaina pace back and forth anxiously. At the moment, there was no choice but to evacuate Theramore. Hamuel had been away for a long time, and he only brought nightmarish news, but did not tell him the solution.

"Escape is not the best way," Jaina rebuked, "If we run away, Hellscream will continue to throw the bomb at Danasus, at Stormwind, or even Iron Fortress!"

"Just revealing this to us by Bain, we can see that not all tribe members are like their great chiefs," Sylvanas said. "I believe there are some members...at least my sister will object to Garrosh's actions."

"What if they don't know at all?" Jaina asked, "I know what you want to say, Sylvanas. Among the remaining members of the tribe, Bain, Woking, and Sarufal, they all know the truth, but they may not be able to get the trust of Hellscream. That orc knew that everyone would object, so he would just go his own way. When things were done, even if they were questioned, it would have nothing to do."

"In this way, we can only take defensive measures," said Bern. "I propose to send someone to find the trace of the bomb, and if I can, I will destroy it even if I sacrifice my life."

"Don't go find it. Just think about it and you will know where it is." Sylvanas's words successfully attracted everyone's attention. "Theramore has a good navy and natural defense capabilities in the mud swamp, but one thing is missing, that is the Air Force. The tribe masters the goblin's airship technology..."

A bomb that was about to fall from the sky attacked the weakness of Theramore.

Jaina struggled to think about ways to get out of the predicament. She needed a perfect solution to protect everyone.

"If there is a magic barrier, maybe it can protect us."

"We don't have so many mages." Sylvanas said. After seeing the entangled look in Jaina's eyes, he instantly understood what the female mage wanted to do. "You want to ask Dalaran for help? They are neutral camps and have never intervened in the battle between the alliance and the tribe after the Second War."

"We have no other way," said Jaina. At this moment, she seemed to know how to judge the situation better than Sylvanas. "Only Dalaran's mages can support us as quickly as possible. The tribal army will arrive in three days. The reinforcements in Stormwind City are not too late. We can only block the bomb first. Garrosh saw that his plan did not work, and he would definitely order a strong attack."
