Chapter 43 - The Perfect Attack

…………

Intentionally? Aurelia looked at Nathanos. She thought it was because it was difficult to aim in the bushes that Nathanos could not shoot and kill the escaped trolls, but the human problem made her realize that he could do this, but she had no action.

Nathanos was waiting for her answer. Aurelia thought carefully, and then she understood when she saw the corpse of the troll on the ground.

"You let that troll go back and inform us."

"Very good." Nathanos pulled out the bow and arrow from the troll's corpse and said, "The tribe had already started to act long before you even had the alliance. Their pioneers were forest trolls. The travelers you planted in this forest may have been wiped out. But you encountered their ambush when you rushed home."

The female elf frowned, and Nathanos didn't seem to contact the news directly, and she was confused. "I don't understand."

A little disappointment appeared in the human eyes, and he turned his head to look at the road ahead. "I ask you, why are you here? Where are the alliance's army?"

"In the back, I'm here to investigate the road," she said, and then her face gradually dimmed. She then realized that she had walked on a path in the forest. This was not the main route of the alliance's marching at all, and no wonder she met Nathanos.

"Damn, I was anxious for a moment, so I took this path for no reason." The female elf cursed. She prayed that Turayan's army would not get lost here.

"Then I'll ask you again, where does this road lead?" Nathanos guided Aurelia step by step, allowing the female elf to see the truth clearly.

"This road?" Aurelia thought about it for a while, and her memory stored all the passages of Quelselas. "I remembered that this was the path to the Tower of Wind Walkers, where I used to hunt with my sisters." She smiled, as if she had returned to the time she spoke.

Nathanos looked at her dissatisfiedly: "You still laugh? Why are there a troll ambush on the road leading to your house? Why did I just want that troll to survive and go back to inform me?"

After hearing his words, the smile on Aurelia's face gradually disappeared, and then slowly turned pale: "You mean..." She didn't dare to say it any more, she was afraid that her speculation was true.

"I did this with the purpose of not changing the ending, but if the troll leader knew that the Ranger General had returned, he would consider whether the next action would be carried out. They would hesitate, and this might be able to buy some time." Nathanos looked at her, his tone gradually faded. He did not tell the female elf that it would be difficult to stop the troll from attacking her home even if it was like this, because the conflict between the two races would make the forest troll ignore all threats, and all they had to do was revenge.

Aurelia nodded, without further ado, now she was not caring about the Alliance troops behind her, and she walked past Nathanos and prepared to leave.

"Aleria." Nathanos turned his head and called her.

"What's wrong? I'm in a hurry now."

"Sometimes the forest is not safe," he said, a warning. The female elf was a little puzzled. She certainly knew this, but obviously she could not think of the deepest meaning in Nathanos's words.

"Thank you." The female elf smiled at him and ran towards the Tower of Wind Walker.

Humans knew that she didn't understand what she meant. Until just now, a desire suddenly arose in Nathanos's heart, hoping that Aurelia would ask for her help and let him go to the Tower of Wind Walker together, and she would agree in her heart. But the reaction of the female elf disappointed him a little.

"Silly." He cursed himself. Now is not a time to think about it. He was not here to save Aurelia, but he happened to meet a female elf while searching for something hidden in the forest.

"It should be nearby." Nathanos glanced around, readjusted his thoughts, and moved towards his goal.

"It's coming soon," Kadega said to Turayan.

Turayan sighed, not knowing whether it was the ease of feeling after the long journey or the helplessness of facing the war. He was quite struggling to command the army. In the past, Lothar was responsible for the final decision, but now, everything was on his shoulders, and it was enough to make him sleep hard on most nights. Then there was Aurelia, all the elves were impatient during the march, worried about Quelcelas. But everyone else kept calm enough, except Aurelia, who questioned every order given by Turayan: Why did he choose to camp in this valley instead of the one in front? Why did he light a bonfire instead of eating cold food? Why did he start to rest at dusk instead of march forward at night? Originally, Turayan felt very nervous as soon as he arrived at command, and Aurelia's chatter made this worse. He felt that every decision he made after careful consideration was wrong.

"We will soon reach the hills." Khadgar reminded, pulling Turayan back from his memories. "We should be careful, at least we must know what the tribe is doing."

"Maybe they will be very slow, and we will get here before them." This is a blessing, but Tulayan himself doesn't believe it, let alone Kadega.

"You should say this to Aurelia, and then she will definitely think it's an excuse for you to march slowly."

When the paladin heard this, his face turned red and scolded, "Why do you always mention her?"

The mage burst out laughing twice, which made Tulayan feel even more funny. "Why not? Did she make you nervous?"

Turayan turned his head and stopped talking, but not long after, he suddenly mentioned Aurelia again. "Why has she been there for so long?"

Kadega was also a little confused. After thinking about it, he replied: "Maybe, she has already gone on her own." Tulayan sighed and begged: "I just hope he doesn't meet a tribe on the road. But now we are also very close. If the tribe comes here first, we can also divert their attention. This will give Aurelia enough time to convince the elf king. Then they can attack from the rear when we attack the tribe from the front."

Deep in Quelcelas

"Silent, don't make any sound." Zujin warned his fellow men. They were quickly passing through the forest and getting closer to the elves. But now, his keen sense of smell reminded that there were elves somewhere nearby. So he slowed down and took every step carefully on the tree. His hand held the axe tightly to avoid metal collisions when moving. He didn't want the elves to know that they were coming, and it was not possible now.

The other trolls obeyed the orders and prepared their weapons without a sound. Most of them smiled and showed their triangular teeth. Zujin fully understood that they were in the same mood as himself. They were going deep into the elves' homeland, ready to attack them in this place. He could almost taste that.

These elves have tortured them for too long. Since the intruder with pale skin and sharp ears first set foot on this continent thousands of years ago, they have been stealing territory from the Amani Empire. They have gradually seized control of the land, with troll speed, and the most terrifying thing is their magic. Trolls have never been exposed to magic before, and they have no way to fight back against those mysterious attacks or destroy arcane defenses that resist them.

Fortunately, the trolls have a large number of advantages, and they can suppress these abominable elves by number.

Afterwards, the elves and humans formed an alliance.

These two pale races completely shattered the Amani Empire, they captured the fortress and slaughtered thousands of trolls. Zujin was immersed in his thoughts. Before this war, they were numerous and very powerful, controlling many parts of the land. After that, they were fragmented, and the shadow of the past enveloped them, and they could no longer return to the past and take back everything that belonged to them.

Until Orgrim found him and gave them a promise of revenge, Zujin believed them. The Hammer of Destruction would not disappoint Zujin, and he vowed to help the Forest Trolls rebuild the Amani Empire.

Zujin had already started doing this. He survived that bad war and tried to reunite the trolls of the tribes. He challenged one by one and defeated the leaders of other tribes, whether through battle or whatever. Everyone had already fallen to him, and the forest trolls were united again. With the help of the tribe, they would compete with human elves for this world. Fortunately, the orcs were not interested in the forest at all. They only care about the valleys and plains of the world. Let them go, the trolls only want wood.

But first, he needed to take them back from the elves, which would be very pleasant. Zu Jin stopped, raised his hand to signal the stop, and the other trolls also stopped and held their breath. He stared down through the leaves, his sharp eyes could easily pierce the darkness, and he was waiting.

It appeared! A tremor appeared below, and some things that were walking in the forest came into his sight. They were wearing brown and green cloaks like trees, making no sound when they moved, and walked between the bushes as if they were walking on flat ground.

One elves! No... more than one. The other walked out behind the first, then the third and fourth. Soon, a whole hunting team passed by below, and there were a total of ten elves. They did not look up, and the peace of mind for their forest made these elves not have basic vigilance.

Zu Jin smiled, it was easier than he thought.

He reached out to signal, put the axe back to his waist, quietly landed on a branch below, and then turned to another one. Now, he was only more than ten steps away from these elves, and could clearly see them and the cloak behind them. The abominable longbow and arrows hung behind them, but there was nothing in their hands. They had no doubt at all that was hidden in their heads.

Zu Jin jumped off the tree. When he landed, he took out his axe and easily landed between the two elves. Before they reacted, he cut over and faced the elves' throats. Blood splattered on the leaves.

The other elves turned their heads and screamed in surprise, "Troll!" and then reached for their weapons. However, Zu Jin's kind fell from above, with axes, daggers and sticks already in their hands. The elves dodged, desperately trying to pull out their swords or take out their bows, but they did not have the chance. Although the elves were quick, the trolls were taller and stronger, and they solved them before the elves moved.

An elf avoided the attack, he quickly stepped back two steps and turned around, using a tree as a cover. Zu Jin thought the elf would take out his bow, but he didn't expect that he took a horn from his belt. The ranger lifted the horn to his lips and blew a loud horn, but the sound was quickly cut off. Another troll stabbed the elf's abdomen. The horn turned into a faint breath when the elf fell, and blood flowed out of his mouth and abdomen.

"Hmm?" Nathanos heard the brief trumpet and came from behind. "Is it Aurelia?" He vaguely remembered that there was a trumpet around her waist when he first saw the female elf.

The little conflict ended soon. Zujin jumped down and cut off the ears of the elves he killed and placed it in a small bag he carried with him. After a while he would dry the "trophy" and strung it onto his necklace to show his heroism.

"Come here." He shouted to his men. Many of them were collecting spoils. "Don't stick to this small victory." Zujin warned them. "Go back to the trees. We will continue to hunt." He smiled, and his fellow men responded with a cruel expression. "Kill them all." Zujin shouted out their hearts. At this time, a guy rushed into his sight in a panic. There must be something bad.

"What's wrong?" Zu Jin asked.

The troll who ran to him gasped and pointed at the back of him, but there was nothing. "Ranker...Ranker General, the Wind Walker... is back."

"Wind Walker!" A trace of anger flashed in Zu Jin's eyes, and he grabbed the same person with one hand. "Which one?"

"Aleria Wind Walker, I'm sure it's her." The troll who reported the message endured the powerful force coming from his arm. If Zu Jin didn't let go, his arm would be twisted.

"She's the one?"

The troll shook his head: "There are enemies hiding in the dark, shooting and killing our five warriors."

"Haha~" Zujin laughed and let go of the troll. According to his description, Aurelia must have left the alliance's army. The troll leader said to his warriors: "It's time. That damn female elf is not as fast as us. My brothers, hurry up and go to the Wind Walker Tower at full speed, and let General Quelsellas' Rangers taste the taste of losing a loved one."
