Chapter 64 - Ambiguity

…………

The spaceship was undoubtedly from the Delaney! The Forbidden Demon Prison was suspended in the air, reminding Sasarien of Archerus.

When the Forgotten Army broke through the city defense, he also crept in and entered a well-preserved watchtower. While fighting against the crusaders in the tower, he would occasionally recall the order issued by Nathanos: the surrendered ones live, and the resister dies.

The Death Knight was surprised that he wanted to follow this order. Fortunately, the crusaders he met did not make him embarrassed. These fanatics did not intend to put down their weapons at all.

Staring at the chaotic streets, Sasarien overlooked the once magnificent city. No matter what direction he looked, everything he saw was the scars of the broken buildings. The streets were covered with corpses and rubble. This scene reminded him of the time when Arthas destroyed the kingdom. Like the past, the army of undead occupied the city. However, one after another. The Scourge would slaughter all living people. The forgotten ones were different. The shrill wail was the best proof, which meant that there were survivors, but they were just trapped in extreme fear.

People living in the city should feel lucky. Sasari thought to himself, because they are still alive and can breathe air, and as long as they do not make unnecessary resistance, they will be released. Of course, after they return to calm down, they will definitely resent Nathanos and his army that destroyed their lives, but this is the war and the ending cannot be changed.

"Death Knight, Master, please come over." Malcolm, the undead guard, came behind him.

Sasarian estimated what decision the Withered One would make to him, and then he would report it to the Great Lord Moglani.

"Lead the way."

The streets that arrived at the palace were being cleared. Many civilians were kneeling on the ground and shivering, and in front of them were the Forsaken people holding sharp swords.

The palace at the end of the street is the best preserved building. Sasarien suddenly stopped when he walked to the bell tower. He looked up and the big bell hanging on the top of the tower made many terrible memories emerge.

Alsace, he thought of this name.

"The master is still waiting." Malcolm reminded.

Sasarian came back to his senses and followed the guards' footsteps.

He saw a pool of blood in front of the throne. Nathanos was sitting in that seat. In addition to him, the three Forsaken leaders who planned to attack Lordaeron were all here, but one more, a goblin.

"It's very suitable for you to sit on this, Master." The sky-covering man Orisos said with a smile. But the man who was flattering was playing with his weapon.

"There are some of the crusaders in the city that are still resisting, master. They occupy one or two streets and defend by terrain." Prefest spoke disdainfully and promised: "They are wasting time, and I will wipe them out before the sun sets."

"My people are stepping up the production of stitches. Once they are awakened, they will immediately start to maintain the security of the city." After the pharmacist North reported on his work progress, the hall fell silent, and everyone was waiting for Nathanos to speak.

Sasarien noticed that when Orisos and the other three spoke, the Withered One did not even raise his head, as if he didn't care about the problem here at all.

"Gizlok." Nathanos shouted the goblin's name.

"I'm here, master." Gitzlok stepped forward.

"How is the situation in the Forbidden Demon Prison?"

"Everything is OK." The goblin seemed a little energetic. Sassarian guessed that he had counted all the credit for the capture of Lordaeron on his head? "The Delaneys of Shattas were locked up, and they were not abused."

When Sasarian heard the place name Shatas, he felt nervous and looked at the goblin in surprise.

"The royal city has been captured, but the war has not yet ended. The crusaders of the Bloody Monastery will definitely come. My terrifying guards are coming. Before they arrive, you must be responsible for the defense and defend the royal city. Do you understand?"

Sasarian realized that the Withered Word seemed to say that he was about to leave.

"As you wish, Master."

Nathanos nodded and waved his hand to let the four men retreat.

Now he is the only one left with the Death Knight. He knew that Sassarian must have many questions to ask, and that's the case.

"Did you get a spaceship or rob it from the outside world?"

"You don't think it's right?"

The Death Knight scoffed at this, "I just confirm and don't comment."

A hint of undetectable cold smile appeared on the corner of Nathanos' mouth. "So, what else do you want to confirm?"

"Where is Whiteman? Is she dead?" Sasarien looked down at the pool of blood on the ground. He could still feel the temperature inside.

"She's still alive."

The Death Knight narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "You have said that only those who surrender can survive. Whiteman is not a woman who will surrender."

[Reading Benefits] Give you a cash red envelope! Follow the vx public [Book Friends Base Camp] to receive it!

"Of course." Nathanos nodded, "The reason she lives is only because she has a last bit of value."

"So are other living people in the city?"

"That's right."

"You think they are more valuable to you in life? It's strange, I thought you would kill them all and then resurrect them as your people and allow them to expand the military power of the Forgotten."

"Like Arthas?" Nathanos chuckled, leveling the wrinkles on his guard's hand. "Aren't we all the people who were killed and resurrected by him? Then we became his enemies."

There is no doubt that this sentence surprised Sasarien and made him unable to understand what Nathanos was thinking. He just proposed to kill all the prisoners because he wanted to see Nathanos' attitude. Refusing or adopting it will determine whether there is an essential difference between the Withered and Arthas, and it also determines the attitude of the Black Front Knight towards the Forgotten in the future. However, Nathanos gave him an ambiguous answer.

He would not kill prisoners indiscriminately, but it was not from humanitarianism, but only a consideration that originated from far-reaching plans: to eliminate betrayal.

"Yeah." Sasarian replied, not commenting.

Nathanos stood up from the throne, "As you can see, I will leave the Eastern Kingdom for a moment, and there is still a war waiting for me in Kalimdo. So, you can go back and report to your great lord. Of course, I welcome him to send someone again at any time."

The raven raven is wailing...
