Chapter Thirty-Eight - The One-Eyed Ogre
…………
"Nathanos, what's going on with your eyes and your left hand?" After so many days together, Alextsa couldn't help asking. The pupils in Nathanos' eyes were replaced by scarlet points, and his hands contained unpredictable darkness.
The Swound-Bindinger of Life always pays special attention to all dark forces. Nathanos tries to find a hint of hostility in her eyes, but only curiosity is seen.
"I thought you knew what was going on in Orgrimmar."
"I heard some rumors, but I want to hear your explanation."
Nathanos smiled helplessly, "Even if I explain myself, there is a possibility of concealment. People are more willing to believe in subjective feelings. Why don't you see it yourself."
The Withered One took the initiative to take off the guards on his left hand. Alextasa had anticipated various situations. Judging from his past experience, anyone who came into contact with the power of the ancient gods would become distorted...
The limbs in front of me were not that bad, there were no strange eyes or tentacles on it, and it still looked like a hand. Only the skin was dark red, almost like a rock shell. A shiny pattern was cracked from the back of the hand to the arm. From a distance, it looked more like a magical hand guard.
"This hand looks 'special'." Alextasa can only think of using this word to describe it.
Is it flexible? How does it feel when it moves? The Queen of the Red Dragon raised her eyebrows at the Withering One.
"It only has one function, which is to remind me to use this power with caution."
"While my words may make you angry, I still need you to promise that you will not be the second Nesario."
Nathanos would feel a little uncomfortable, he was stunned and tried to answer in the calmest tone: "If there was really a day, could you still destroy me like the Wings of Death?"
There was uncertainty in Alextasa's eyes. She was no longer the formidable guardian dragon. But she said firmly: "I will try my best, but I don't want that one day."
The Withered Man wanted to speak, his mouth had just opened, and Alextasa was also listening to his promise intently. A sound of wind being torn through his head, Nathanos turned his head in time, and a warhammer as big as his body was thrown over.
The first time the Red Dragon Queen saw Nathanos's blade was in the Lordaeron martial arts training ground. This time, the weapon appeared out of thin air in the hand of that "special". Its owner waved and the impact caused the hammer to rotate and fly into the mud on the other side.
They stood up together, staring at the dark corners that now looked very sinister among the dense bushes.
The camp where the two were carefully selected by Nathanos. In order not to be disturbed, Nathanos cleared the dangerous creatures wandering around and used their bodies and blood to form a protective circle. However, there were still creatures who dared to approach. Nathanos slowly retreated and stood in front of Alextassa. Judging from the voice, a big guy came.
"There's a problem."
A tree that was only a few yards away from them turned into pieces in front of them. The thing that made a sound rushed around and easily hit the trees on both sides and appeared in their sight.
The creature was huge, more than four times taller than the Withered One. The knotted muscles made the Forgotten King and the Red Dragon Queen look weak. And it saw them, using its only one-eyed one. It opened its mouth and made some vague roars. The teeth were as sharp as razors.
"I've never seen such a creature." Alextasa was ready for battle.
"They are more like ogres than ogres." Nathanos stared at the ugly and terrifying creature and said to the person behind him: "This time promise me, wait here for a while."
"I'm not afraid of fighting, Nathanos." Alextasa glanced at the Withering One unmoved.
Seeing that she was a little reluctant, Nathanos sighed and said a slightly far-fetched reason: "Your spell will cause a commotion, and the flames will ignite the entire woodland."
He was right. Alextasa reluctantly stopped the magic between her fingers. She could not turn back into a dragon, and she was not good at close combat, so she could only stand by and watch. Obviously, she was in the mood of Nathanos.
The monster rushed over and approached them. Nathanos could tell at a glance that it was a simple-minded creature, relying only on existing attack methods, rather than picking up weapons that fell on the ground. Or it was confident in its defense ability, thinking that the battle blade was not enough to pierce the skin of its body. In a sense, its thinking was still very simple.
Nathanos rushed forward, took a step back and avoided the fist of the one-eyed monster hitting him, and jumped behind the monster with its arms. Under Alextsa's gaze, he used that power in front of the guardian dragon. The hand was placed on the head of the one-eyed monster. The scene in front of him also made the life-bound swearer stand in surprise.
The monster stopped all actions, and his hands fell on both sides, standing there like a wooden stake, leaving lifeless.
Is this a spell of spiritual manipulation? Alex Tsa walked up to ask, "What did you do to it?"
"Don't worry, I don't control it." Nathanos said, putting on his hands again.
"Then it..."
"It just lost the desire to kill."
The Red Dragon Queen raised her head and found that the monster's eye was staring at her without any ferocity.
"Yashaji is an ancient god who manipulates emotions. Its ability can expand a person's negative emotions and can also take it away. Any creature is often not aggressive when it is calm." Nathanos also looked at the one-eyed monster, and a smile appeared on his face.
"Manipulating emotions is also one of the means to control others." Alextsa shook his head, "No matter what, this power...is unsettling. I'm very worried that you will be affected."
"Time will prove whether I will become what you are worried about." The withered man looked down at his hand. Many people would not understand, but there is no distinction between evil and justice in power itself. On the contrary, it is more important for users to know how to measure and control.
"You haven't made a promise to me yet."
Alextasa and Nathanos began to look at each other. Even the Red Dragon Queen herself felt that this request was a bit too much. Her words were in a sense distrust of Nathanos, but it was also necessary. Nathanos was the king of the Forgotten. This country has many followers, and if their leaders go astray, it will undoubtedly become a huge trouble. Alextasa's concerns are not unreasonable.
"Then will you believe my promise?"
"certainly."
Soon, Alextsa noticed the disappointed expression on Nathanos's face, and she realized that she was trapped. Since she chose to believe in the promise of the Wither, why can't she believe that the Wither can control the power of the ancient god? The Swobobbinder of Life felt ashamed. She expressed her willingness to believe him just to get Nathanos's answer.
The silence of the two was like a cold war. Alextasa was obviously the anxious side, but she could not think of any way to resolve the misunderstanding. The language became pale and powerless at this moment. They kept looking at each other but did nothing. The surrounding environment became quiet because of this.
It was so quiet that Nathanos could even hear Alextasa's slight breathing. The two looked at each other, both attracted by the unusual atmosphere.
A group of people arrived quietly.
Many people suddenly appeared around him, as if a blue wave. Nathanos heard the familiar roar of arrows piercing the air. After a moment, the huge monster let out a roar full of pain. More than a dozen arrows pierced his seemingly rocky skin, and one shot its eyes. It roared, and the sound sounded extremely harsh.
Only it was attacked...
Everything finally calmed down. The one-eyed monster was dead.
A face came into his eyes, with strange plate-shaped bone armor on his head, as if it was a helmet growing from his head. His black hair and beard hung on a colorful battle robe, and his eyes that were clear about everything were shining with light, the color was like an ice lake in winter.
"Are you okay?" said the Draenei man in a broken orc language, his eyes looking back and forth at Nathanos and Alextasa--the gaze.
Of course, Nathanos also noticed this, but he was curious about how so many people on the other side hid their whereabouts, and he shouldn't have been unaware of it.
"Thank you, we're fine," Alex Tasa replied.
Before she could introduce herself, her voice was taken over by Nathanos.
"You are fooled. He is not greeting us, but testing whether we are orc spies."
Commander Delaney took a breath of air conditioning, and even his soldiers became nervous.
"He spoke orcs to see if we could respond. After all, there are many non-orc races within the orc tribe. Although the crows and ogres also speak orcs, these two races rarely accept outsiders. Am I right?" Nathanos glared at the commander of the Draenei. The last sentence he said in Argus, and the other sentences were in Orcs, in order to mock the other party's cleverness.
Alextasa couldn't believe it, but the expression on Delaney's face, who asked her, perfectly confirmed Nathanos's inference. Her face suddenly became cold.
"You are smart." The Draenei commander nodded to the guy who was covered in darkness. "I am Restalan, the captain of Termo's guard. I heard several of Termo's Draenei hunters mentioned you. You saved them from the hands of the Blade Tooth Tiger."
Nathanos looked around Ristalan's men, and everyone was holding bows and arrows. "So this is your way of thanking me? Or do you think that the hunting team was attacked and rescued on purpose, to sneak into your city?" The face of the withered man darkened, and anger flashed in his eyes. Alextasa also lowered his head slightly.
"We do have concerns about this." Restalan said the truth bluntly. "But I hope you can understand that the orcs are pressing step by step, and Tarado is no longer as calm as before." The captain of the guard pointed to the corpse of the one-eyed monster. "This is the one-eyed demon. It should not have appeared in Tarado, but their territory is gradually being occupied by the orcs. If they do not want to become slaves, they can only escape. There is no doubt that the one-eyed demon ran over from Alanka Peaklin or Gorrond."
"We had controlled it just now. It was no threat, but you still killed it." Alextasa said.
Restalan narrowed his eyes and looked for traces of spies in her words, but found nothing. He remembered the prophet's description of two outsiders: life and death. This unique lady may represent life, and she was simply dissatisfied with the attacks of the rangers.
"I'm sorry, ma'am. Maybe you're right, but we can't make a correct judgment on what happened just now. After all, according to common sense, the one-eyed ogre will not sit down and live in peace with people of other races. They only care whether the creatures in front of them can become a tummy meal."
"Enough!" Nathanos stepped forward to interrupt their dispute. "It is dead, and it makes no sense to pursue right or wrong, and we will not be enemies of you for it. Now you can talk about the reasons you came to us, and if you are just here to solve this problem, then you can leave."
He and the Red Dragon Queen had actually guessed the purpose of Restalan. After waiting for so many days, they were also waiting for the arrival of the Draenei people.
"I have been assigned to find you." The captain of the guard has determined that the two people in front of him were the targets of the prophet Viren's instructions. "Our leader wants to meet two."
The Forgotten King and the Red Dragon Queen looked at each other. The former hid their smile carefully. Moreover, Nathanos was good at disguising.
"Your leader?" he asked intentionally.
"That is, the Prophet Viren." Restalan looked very surprised. In Draenor, even the orcs knew that their leader was Viren.
"What did he do when he sees us?"
"I can't disclose this for the time being, but please believe we have no malice. And..." Ristalan looked up at the sky, and the moon had risen to the highest point. "It is unwise to spend the night in Tarado. There are some dangers that even the Delaney Rangers would not want to face."
“So can you provide us with the cleanest food and hot water?”
Nathanos's words were more like giving Restalan a step, and the captain of the guard readily accepted it. "It's absolutely fine. But I don't know the names of both of them yet."
"My name is Nathanos Wither. This is the Swound Binder of Alextasa Life."
