Chapter 7 - Twilight Shadows

…………

The sky was dark, and there were many thinly dressed shadows on the battleships of the Iron Tribe, most of whom had never expected themselves to escape from the Tanaan jungle.

"We are almost at Shadow Moon Valley," Archbishop Maradal tried to increase his voice so that more people could hear him, "We are almost safe."

Some people were so happy about the news, but some people questioned it. Maradal faced the source of the doubts and saw Nathanos and Kadega pointing their eyes on him.

"Why not go to Shatas?" asked Nathanos. When evacuating from Tanaan, the tribe and the Alliance got a ship, heading to two different places. Saar took Drektar and Janal and a group of Frostwolf Orcs to Frostfire Ridge, and the rest were led by Maradal to Delaney's territory. However, the Archbishop did not specify the location in advance, so Nathanos always thought they were approaching Tarado. "Shartas is in the heart of the entire Delano, and its strategic significance is even greater."

"This...is sorry, but to get there we need to cross the coastlines of Gorrond and Frostfire Ridge. There is a dangerous patrol of the Blackstone clan fleets. Another thing is that Tarado is too far away and it takes weeks to sail, and we don't have that much supplies."

Few people could convince Nathanos, but this time Maradal was right. The Withered One glanced at Delani who was resting on the boat, where there were children and wounded, who could not stand the long journey. The most important thing was that they needed not only food and water, but also a sense of belonging to the home. Because the shadow of fear would not dissipate, they had witnessed too many atrocities who became prisoners.

"You are right, Archbishop. Let's continue in the direction you set."

Maradal nodded and left.

"We'd better get faster," Kardga's eyes drifted to the sea level from time to time, as if he had something to do.

"I've heard people say you let Gul'dan go."

"Yes, but I think it's a necessary price. If it doesn't, Azeroth's safety will not be."

But letting Gul'dan act, he will sooner or later cause troubles stronger than the Iron Tribe. Nathanos does not need to explain this to Kardag, and I believe the great wizard knows better than him.

"Let him go doesn't mean letting him go completely. I will personally hunt him down."

"Isn't your focus on fighting against the Iron Tribe?"

"I will help, when necessary." Kardga nodded, "but I think with Marrad and you, the Iron Tribe will not be a real threat."

"I have something to deal with myself, too." Nathanos said expressionlessly.

The great wizard finally took his eyes back from the sea and focused on the face of the wither. The urgency in his eyes turned into suspicion. He had heard Merell say that the leaders of the Forgotten like to expand and like to gain benefits from elsewhere when people fight.

"What are you going to do? There is still a battle to fight now. It is best for us to work together and not think about our own small abacus."

He completely misunderstood. This idea flashed through Nathanos's eyes. The mage said it well. They should indeed cooperate in the current situation, so he was willing to explain: "Everyone has his own enemy. In this world, your enemy is Gul'dan, and my enemy has appeared."

"Your...enemy?"

"You'd better not ask." He didn't want to tell Kardga any information about the criminals, nor did he want to give him a chance to ask questions. Fortunately, the great wizard did not ask. Walking down the stairs leading to the cabin, the Withered Man signaled Malcolm and the other two not to follow him. Someone was waiting for him at the entrance of the cabin.

"You're slow." Sylvanas crossed his hands and leaned against the armrest.

"Kadgar and I have to discuss a lot of plans, you know, our war with the Iron Tribe is just beginning."

"So, what's the result?"

"I have reached an agreement with him. We will first stabilize the position and then find ways to gather more allies..."

"I want to know who your enemy is."

Nathanos looked at her in surprise, "You eavesdropped on our conversation?"

"But you choose to hide it from everyone."

This is my business. Nathanos held back this sentence from his throat, especially when facing the female elf in front of him, he had no courage to say it.

"There are enough troubles, they are unable to do anything." He tried to make excuses and his eyes turned elsewhere. But Sylvanas walked up to him flexibly and looked at him.

"This only shows that the threat you face is far better than the Iron Tribe, or even the Burning Legion, otherwise you would not let go of the situation in front of you and solve the problem of 'my enemy'."

Unfortunately, she was completely correct. Nathanos hoped that she would stop interrogating her. Perhaps she already knew the truth, but he didn't want her to say it out.

"I saw that person."

"who?"

"I remembered the person who attacked me at Maris Farm. He came to this world, right?"

Nathanos is still very surprised by the appearance of the criminals. He must have come to Drano early and then deliberately showed up for himself to see. What is the purpose of doing this? What did he do during this period? Why did Gul'dan stand with him? Nathanos had a intuition, and his every move was in a huge plan at this moment.

"Yes, he's here. It's the first time I've seen him here."

The Withered One heard Sylvanas take a deep breath, her heartbeat also accelerated, and her face turned pale with every beat.

Did she remember that place? That terrifying place...

"Don't worry," Nathanos put his hand on her shoulders. "If he was to do something bad for us, I wouldn't let him succeed."

"I'm not worried about myself. What I'm afraid of is that you will be affected." Sylvanas's mouth seemed to be twitching hard, and then outlined an extremely reluctant smile. "I fell into a coma when I was at Maris Farm. I didn't know what happened later, but I figured out one thing that the person who attacked me must be for you."

"Then you should also know that I rescued you."

"So, are you confident to deal with him?"

Nathanos nodded without thinking. He was pretending well, and Sylvanas looked at his eyes and could not see any flaws.
