Chapter 1 - Meeting in Nanhai Town

…………

Hillsbrad is close to the Altrank and Alasi Heights, a land full of green hills and fertile pastures. The abundant precipitation has created many suitable land for cultivation, and the natural generosity has also made Hillsbrad self-sufficient. The coast in the south is full of wind, which allows ships to enter and exit the docks of the South Sea Town.

Seven years later, Nanhai Town

It is just a small town, but it is the largest human settlement in Hillsbrad and a commercial center. Unlike other places, Nanhai Town has militia troops, specializing in resisting robbers and protecting fishing boats that set sail. Merchants, tourists, bards, and officers of all sizes of Lordaeron will come here, so Nanhai Town is a place where fish and dragons are mixed.

In the tavern, shouts were heard one after another, and a group of people surrounded a child and a middle-aged man, who were playing cards. The boy had a well-proportioned facial features and had brown curly hair.

"Ha, I'm going to win."

"The seventh hand, this is impossible."

"If you don't agree, you can ask someone to search for my body, but I'm not a cheater."

"Cunning little devil." The middle-aged man shouted, his voice successfully attracted the attention of a young man outside the tavern.

He walked through the crowded crowd, trying not to make any noise, and then came behind the boy, and everyone noticed him.

Feeling a chill, the boy slowly looked back.

"Cousin, cousin." The boy squeezed out an awkward smile and was about to run away. The young man he called his cousin reached out and grabbed him.

"I still want to run?"

"I don't, I just want to go to the bathroom. Let me go, Nathanos." The boy struggled, but couldn't break free from the shackles of the youth.

"If your excuse is as superb as your card skills, maybe I will consider letting you go." Nathanos said, which caused laughter from the people around him.

The boy was named Stephen Maris, Nathanos' cousin, a very naughty ghost. Stephen blushed when he heard this. Nathanos stared at him and smiled.

"I'm sorry, my cousin has caused you trouble." Nathanos bowed to the people around him, and dragged the reluctant Stephen away from the tavern.

Including this year, Nathanos is already seventeen years old. His face is different from ordinary people. He looks weird (Eastern-Rong), with short black hair. He doesn't know why he looks like this, perhaps because of the influence of dreams. He is not strong and does not look strong, but only those who know him know how superb his skills are. Those who have seen him will definitely not believe that he and Stephen are brothers, because the two have completely different personalities.

"Enough is enough, let me go!" Stephen used all his strength to finally break free from Nathanos's hand.

"Why did you suddenly appear? I almost won the seven copper coins in that person's hand just now. This is the price of a chicken."

"Can you focus your focus on other more meaningful things. If Uncle Jonathan knows that you're gambling in a tavern, your butt will bloom in the next second."

Stephen smiled and looked at his brother, he knew that Nathanos's strictness towards him had never been true.

"I'm sure you won't tell him."

Nathanos sighed: "Stephen, I promised Uncle Jonathan to take care of you, but it doesn't mean you can do whatever you want. Listen, you must..."

Before he could finish his words, he interrupted with excitement. "Nathanos!"

After hearing this voice, Stephen smiled proudly at Nathanos inexplicably, which made Nathanos very angry. Stephen wanted to tell himself that his reinforcements were coming.

The one who called him was a young man about the same age as Nathanos. The difference was that he was wearing a white robe. He was Nathanos's partner, Leren, who had just become an introductory priest. He also invited Nathanos and Stephen to the town of Nanhai, mainly to celebrate his baptism of the holy light.

"You guys came on time."

"Hello, Brother Lereen." Stephen greeted politely.

"So too, Stephen. Long time no see, Nathanos."

"Indeed, you have changed a lot." Nathanos looked at his outfit. "It looks a bit sacred, different from the usual you."

"Stop making fun of me, let's go to the hotel to have a rest."

Leren seemed to have prepared in advance. When Nathanos and his group entered the hotel, the boss warmly treated them. In addition to barbecue, there was also Nanhai Town Beer.

"Stephen, put down the cup in your hand, and the juice will arrive in a while." Nathanos glared at his cousin. He had just taken some beer while he was not paying attention.

"Why can you drink, I can't?"

"Because your father will beat you up to your teeth after drinking. I will drink, your uncle Breed will not do anything to me."

This explanation left Stephen speechless to refute. Lerain on the side smiled secretly, and at the same time he noticed Stephen's bulging wallet.

"Stephen, it seems you've done something to make money again." Leren quipped with a strange look.

The boy replied proudly: "I killed that person seven times, and the process..."

Stephen originally wanted to continue, but immediately shut up after seeing Nathanos's eyes. He knew that his behavior was very rude and ridiculous.

"Look at him, Leren." Nathanos said: "He wants to be a knight in the future. Oh my God, what a joke."

"Nonsense, Nathanos." Stephen retorted angrily: "I'm preparing to be a knight."

"Then you should learn how to ride a horse, rather than 'bounce' with others for a few copper coins in the tavern."

"I just want to save money to buy a pair of armor and a sword."

Lerain turned to him: "Shouldn't you buy a horse first?"

"Unfortunately, the price of Lordaeron's horses has risen again." Nathanos took over the right to speak. "Now a foal costs five silver coins. This kid has saved money for a while, but now he hasn't even collected half of it."

"That's because you don't want to lend me money." Stephen looked at Nathanos complained. His brother rarely spent money and made everything by himself. He had never asked Brad for money. But Stephen knew that Nathanos had saved a considerable amount of money, about a dozen gold coins, which he earned from refining potions and selling them to rich families.

"If you want to learn how to build a pair of armor or a hand-lined weapon, I can introduce you to a mentor."

"Forget it, I prefer ready-made ones."

Nathanos shook his head helplessly. He and Lerain were not talking about Stephen, and they began to discuss some other things.

"Do you know? Kasha is also a pastor now, but she became a pastor a year earlier than me, and now she is a high-level pastor."

"Excellent." Nathanos's evaluation is simple and straightforward. The priest is divided into five levels: the first-level priest is the entry-level priest, the advanced priest, the monk, the priest, the priest, the priest, the priest, the priest, the priest, the priest, the archbishop. Kasha is one year younger than Nathanos, but her belief in the Holy Light is beyond ordinary people.

"And that abominable Gray Meynes, who has now become a sergeant chief through his father's relationship."

"Sergeant Chief? I seem to remember that Lordaeron's minimum age is twenty."

Leren nodded: "He was training in the military camp two years ago, and his father was doing everything, and no boss he should have visited was left."

In recent years, Lordaeron's military and political positions were re-established by the king. The chief of sergeants belonged to the fourth-class official rank, below were sergeants, corporals, and privates. Next to the top was the chief of sergeants, that is, the garrison officer, and Gray's official position was second only to his father.
