Chapter Eleven - Hides

………

After capturing the Thunder Axe Fortress, the Forgotten should be allowed to rest. This kind of rest refers to the mental aspect. Time is tight. After occupying the Thunder Axe Fortress, Veronara believes that Nathanos will only give them a day off. But what he never expected was that they had been resting for almost four days. In the past few days, Nathanos often went out with Belmont, left before dawn, and did not come back until late at night. Veronara really wanted to know what they were doing.

On the fifth day, Nathanos was preparing to go out like the previous few days, but when he left, he gave Veronara a task: to ask her to find a few tailors among the Forgotten.

"The Withered Ones are out again?" Enya asked, frowning. "We have been here for a long enough time. If we don't act, I'm worried that the Alliance will send someone to investigate the situation of the desolate land."

"It is true, but I believe Nathanos must have thought of this, and he might... be planning what plans he has done," Veronara said comfortingly, "maybe we will know tonight."

Enya looked at Veronara in confusion. The dark ranger in front of her said this means that they will stay in the orc fortress for one day.

For the Forgotten, letting the day pass aimlessly is not a difficult task. After breaking away from the control of the Lich King, almost every Forgotten person fell into confusion and wandered back and forth in a dark corner.

The waiting time was not too long, but the day did pass, or wasted. This was not the case for Nathanos. He came back, unlike the previous few times, with a dirty animal skin in his hand. However, Belmont had three animal skins in his hand.

"Veronara!" Nathanos walked into the Thunder Axe Fortress, and the two Forsakens who were standing guard paid tribute to him, but whether the Withered One had seen it was another matter. He now only cares about the owner of the name he mentioned, whether she had completed her mission. This is very important because the next step is to deal with the four centaur races.

Nathanos needs a tailor, and he needs someone who is proficient in this skill to complete the most critical step in the plan.

"Where are people?"

The next second after Nathanos questioned loudly, Veronara walked out of the crowd, with three female Forsakens following behind her.

"I'm here," Veronara responded. "Everyone you need is here!"

The Withered showed a satisfied expression to her, but then he was a little disappointed. Veronara completed her task, but the number of people was too small, only three.

Not enough, far from enough. But there is no other way.

"Good done!" Nathanos praised casually, and he walked to the three Forsakens, who also expressed their respect for the bow.

The Withered Man lowered his head at Belmont. The Forgotten Man stepped forward and spread the skin in his hand into a row on the ground. Nathanos also opened the skin and placed it on the ground. Other curious Forgotten Man gathered together to watch and talked about Nathanos' strange actions.

Veronara carefully observed the skin. From the material, it seemed to be the skin of the Kodo beast, with incomprehensible patterns on it, like totems and also like logos.

"Can you three make something exactly the same as these?" Nathanos asked the three tailors.

They looked at each other and nodded at Nathanos with a smile. This was an easy task that anyone with discerning eyes could see, so Nathanos had to add a little more difficulty.

"I not only ask you to make the same one, I want a lot of them. Each animal skin with a different pattern requires at least twenty pieces."

After hearing this, the three tailors hesitated for a moment, and one of them asked, "When do you need these things, sir?"

"The faster the better, the construction will be completed by tomorrow night at the latest!"

Veronara doesn't know about tailoring, but she knows the arduousness of the task - time is too tight. The wither looks a bit deliberately embarrassed.

“We will speed up the completion.”

"There are many Kodo beast skins in the armory of Thunder Axe Fortress. As for the pigment..." Nathanos touched his chin, "Just use charcoal ash."

Veronara blinked. “What the hell are we going to do?”

"Veronara, you have a mission." Nathanos looked sideways at the puzzled Dark Ranger, "You immediately summon all the Dark Rangers, and all the Forsaken who had performed reconnaissance missions during your lifetime. Get them together, Belmont will tell you what to do." After the Withered One turned around and walked into the fortress, he patted his right shoulder.

"The Withering One should not favor anyone." Veronara said to Belmont after Nathanos left, "he trusts you more than all of us."

"If you say this to the adults, he will definitely think you are an idiot." Belmont's face twisted with an expression.

Veronara knew it was ridicule. The Dark Ranger said furiously: "Speak with something!"

"Sir, I won't trust anyone!" Belmont replied. Veronala's anger was gradually buried in surprise. "He only needs us to trust him, or... we don't betray him."

The Dark Ranger took a deep breath and said, "What if we don't trust him?" Veronala immediately began to nervous as soon as she spoke. It was unclear to show Nathanos's suspicion in front of Belmont, and the undead might report to Nathanos in the next second.

"I asked him the same question yesterday when I was traveling with the adults." Belmont said, his expression on his face becoming more and more proud, as if Veronara's at a loss made him enjoy it.

"So what is his answer?"

"You can leave at any time. This is his original words."

"So this means he doesn't actually need us and can abandon us at any time?"

As soon as these words came out, the smile on Belmont's face disappeared, turning into a dark anger. He warned: "The taste of betrayal is not good, Veronara! You should know what the Withered Lord has experienced. Who can he believe in? I can't understand the taste of betrayal by his closest relatives, but I know that the most taboo thing for adults is these two words. He will never do such despicable behavior, so he will not abandon us. For us, if we choose to leave, it is just our will. As long as it does not pose a threat to the adult's career, he will not stop us from finding another way out. Do you understand, woman?"

"It seems you are loyal to him," Veronara commented. "But your reaction was too intense, I just expressed my concerns."

"I hope so." Belmont looked at her coldly, "Now, it's time for you to carry out the mission of Lord Wither."

...

"Do you understand the details of the mission?" Belmont stood on a box and shouted at the mixed troops of the Dark Ranger and the Forsaken. In the past, Nathanos was the only one who assigned the mission like this.

"I have a problem." Liana's voice rang.

"If you want to ask why you have to complete this task, you don't need to say more."

"I think we have the right to know." Liana asked relentlessly. "We are not marionettes. The wither should tell us what the skins are useful, after all, we are going to the Centaur camp."

"You care about the reason too?" Belmont looked at Liana mockingly, who almost ran away. "Don't you just look at the results? The wither will meet your needs. Those skins will allow us to remove the threat of centaur without bloodshed. At that time, you have to offer your loyalty to the Lord."

"If this is the case, I will swear allegiance to Nathanos. But just these graffiti skins can defeat the Centaur?" Lianna's face was full of doubts. There were a few dark rangers like her. "Are we going to use these things to bribe those beasts?"
