Chapter 52 - Alterac
…………
Walking into Shadow Teeth Castle, the quiet atmosphere unconsciously merged into Nathanos's heart. The solemnity in the castle made him feel safe. After all, it was the territory of the Forgotten, which was much safer than other places.
Veronara was waiting to greet him with a group of trained rangers. She looked at Nathanos who was walking over, and the dead eyes added a hint of joy. "Sir, I didn't expect to see you again so soon."
"I thought you would accuse me of neglecting the Forsaken here." Nathanos's lips curled up and a smile appeared.
Veronara did have such emotions, but she would not show it in front of Nathanos anyway.
Nathanos untied the quiver on his body and handed it to the Forsaken who came with him with his bone bow. Veronara then noticed Lilian Vos. She was surprised that Vos's range of movement was always in the north, but she appeared at the same time as the Withering One. Does this mean that Nathanos also came from the north?
"I won't say much about gossip." Nathanos's voice sounded again, a little hoarse, as if two pieces of parchment were rubbing against each other. "Have the troops all assembled?"
"At any time, sir."
"Very good..." Nathanos glanced around intentionally or unintentionally, confirming that Veronara was right. "Take me to the conference room."
The leader of the Dark Ranger made a "please" gesture. Nathanos walked into the castle with his head high. This was a long and short road, but you could see the structure of the Shadow Teeth Castle. There were some scratches and small holes chiseled by bows and arrows on the aisle walls, and it was obvious that a battle had occurred. Nathanos wanted to ask how many people Veronara lost when he captured this place, but he did not speak in the end. This was all in the past. Now Shadow Teeth Castle belongs to the Forgotten.
A thick and heavy wooden table and matching chairs were placed in a rotunda in the center of the castle. Nathanos frowned, reminding him of Lordaeron's Throne Hall, where Terenas met with people from all over the country. There were only a few rangers above the captain's level, and the guards were on the side. Of course, Nathanos would sit in the chief position. Veronara sat nearest to him. Lilian Vos stood behind him with his bow and arrow.
Nathanos looked at the people sitting at his desk and realized that these people were all the dead of high elves. He looked the most special one.
"Very good." Nathanos nodded first to express his satisfaction. "I asked Veronara to summon all officers with command of the troops. I believe she completed the task. To be honest, too many people mean that the more orders I will give, and I hope to do it simply." His eyes swept across every dead face, and it seemed that they were ready. "All the energy of the Alliance and the Horde is in the outer realm. In a short time, they will not pay attention to the situation of Azeroth, especially Lordaeron. The existence of the Scourge happens to cover up our actions. No matter what we do, they will think it is the order of the Demon King or Arthas. As long as it does not threaten their own interests, they will not take action against us."
Some discussion sounded around, and it was vaguely clear that they agreed with the withered.
"Our next goal is not to reach out to the Plagueland or Lordaeron. We are going to attack the Kingdom of the Snow Mountains, Ultratown!"
"Mr. Wither? Take some time." A dark ranger stood up with his hands on the table and spoke, and she looked like she wanted to object to the decision.
Nathanos frowned. Who is this woman? With a puzzled look, he looked at Veronara.
"This is Alina, the captain of the Ranger. She made outstanding achievements in the battle to attack Shadow Teeth Castle and was promoted to her current military rank by me."
Nathanos paused for a moment and said to Alina, who was full of sorrow, "Don't be too long."
"Please forgive my presumption. I interrupt you not to disobey your will, but I am a little confused. Why do we waste time on Hillsbrad? The Blood Crusader in the north has started a war with Lordaeron's undead. According to the information..." Alina saw Lilian behind Nathanos in her sight. All the news from the Plagueland was provided by this female assassin. "The Blood Crusader should capture Lordaeron soon. If we were surprised at this time, there might be unexpected results."
Nathanos did not respond at the moment, and he waited for the attitude of the other officers. Some agreed with what Alina said, while others doubted it. After quieting down, he continued: "Your words have made me interested, don't waste your chances."
"I think nothing is more valuable than a city. Of course, UltraLank is not bad, but we cannot use it to attack the targets of the Scourge. This is the original intention of the Forsaken. That's what I said, I'm done." Alina slowly sat down.
"I'm glad you all remember what the mission of the Forgotten One is." Nathanos said coldly. "Before coming here, Lilian had told me everything that happened to Lordaeron. Not just Alina, I believe many people are jealous of Lordaeron, the solid walls, vast land, the bats that form the air force, and more undeads that can be recruited. Indeed, Lordaeron has everything we want. But seeing only huge benefits is very dangerous. We can capture Lordaeron, what after we capture?" His bloody eyes swept to everyone, hoping to get an answer, "Can anyone tell me how to defend that city? Can our power in the Eastern Kingdom resist those fanatics? Can we drive the Crusaders out of the Bloody Monastery?"
No one answered, and the Withered continued, "We cannot, the power we are unable to do now, and it is far from enough for us to gain a foothold in Lordaeron. I ordered the attack on Ultralist to expand the territory of the Forgotten in this land, and to have more space for us to place troops and prepare for the future capture of the entire Plagueland. Occupying Ultralist, we are equivalent to mastering Hillsbrad, controlling the Silver Pine Forest, the Western Plagueland, and the transportation hub of the Arachi Heights. And one day, all three places will belong to the Forgotten."
The hall fell silent for a moment, and Nathanos asked, "Is there any other problem?"
"Yes."
Nathanos opened his eyes slightly and stared at Veronara with a sharp gaze.
“What I want to ask is when will we start acting?”
