Chapter 51 - Prelude to Silverpine Forest
…………
Shadow Tooth Castle
The Dark Ranger Veronara hoped that the long wait would end soon. She had not received news from Nathanos for a whole year. After being sent to Shadow Tooth Castle, all she had to do every day was to make sure that it was in the hands of the Forgotten. There were quite a lot of complaints in the Dark Rangers' troops. Many people began to wonder if Nathanos had forgotten them.
Veronara rebuked those people and told them that Shadow Tooth Castle is the only military base of the Forgotten Kingdom north of the Eastern Kingdom, and the Withered One cannot forget it. One day, the Forgotten will take this place as.asxs. to launch an attack on Lordaeron.
Of course, that day has not arrived yet.
Veronara rarely returns to the inside of the castle. Most of the time she stays on the wall, like a soldier on duty. Since she does not need sleep, she cannot control herself to stay in the command room inside the castle all day and be with loneliness. Looking at the scenery outside the castle can at least make her convinced that nothing can threaten Shadow Teeth Castle.
Gilnis' high walls were on the south side of the castle. She could see the towering castle from here. Under the night, there was still a flash of fire on the wall. Veronara thought to herself - how many stones would it take to build this wall?
A Forgotten man rode a bat and circled over the castle for a few circles before landing. The bat administrator took his reins. This was one of the loot they obtained after they captured it. Several giant bats that could be used to detect and convey messages, as well as some skeleton warhors to ride. The problem facing the Forgotten man is that there are no air troops and cavalry units. Because conditions do not allow, the source of the giant bat belongs to Lordaeron, and the city is now occupied by the Fear Demon King, and the skeleton warhors are not as simple as resurrecting the dead warhors. This involves very complex spells. I heard from North that the Scourge's warhors and stitching monsters are somewhat similar, and they are assembled.
Veronara is waiting for the Forsaken who has just landed to come up to report. "Sir Veronara, is there an exciting news?"
"It's exciting?" Veronara frowned. She almost forgot what it felt. The Dark Rangers' troops had not fought any battles in a year. The boring training every day had filled the Dark Rangers' hearts with anger, and they were always ready to vent their prey. "Tell me, look."
The Forgotten said with a smile: "I know, I know. I am just glad she wants to see me." He also nodded to the little doll in his arms, "It is the master of the Withered One. The Master of the Withered One is back, and he is rushing to here."
Veronara's eyes, which were originally somewhat godless, immediately became full of vitality. "When?"
"In one or two days. And he wants you to assemble the troops, he will need the military force of Shadow Teeth Castle."
"The Dark Ranger has been waiting for his orders." She looked around with satisfaction. The Dark Rangers who heard the news were very excited, and they would soon have a place to use their skills.
"He hasn't arrived yet," Veronara said, calming the restless. "We want to make sure Shadow Teeth Castle is absolutely safe before the Withered One comes here." She looked around again, noticing that the dark ranger Enya looked at her with a calm face. "Do your classification work, don't forget who you are."
After Veronara finished speaking, she walked towards Enya and told her intuition that the other party had something to say. "You don't look very happy, Enya."
"Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to see the Withered One. But I'm worried about the battle we'll face next." The dark ranger said truthfully.
Veronara gave her sister a tolerant smile, "The Dark Ranger is always ready, there is no enemy we can't deal with."

Lilian Voss is planning who the next target of attacking the Blood Crusader is, and every night she always thinks of a perfect assassination plan. This has become her habit.
The wind blowing through her brown hair was damp and cold. She looked back and the dark shadow under the moonlight reminded her of her escort mission. Lilian's eyes soon discovered the two undead dogs with plague viruses all over their bodies. They seemed to have a new name: the Withered Dog. It was named because of their owner. Lilian thought that even without her here, the Withered Dog should be quite safe. The past three hours are proof. No one came to disturb him, and Nathanos Withered Dog meditated for three hours under the moonlight.
Lilian seemed to have heard that this was his hometown during his lifetime, and it seemed to be a farm, but only the barren land ravaged by the Scourge.
Another half hour later, nothing happened.
After a moment passed, Nathanos's voice broke through the silence: "Vos."
"I'm here, sir."
"Do you come to this place often?"
"I don't come often, I rarely appear in places without crusaders." Lilian replied respectfully, and the two withered dogs stared at her while she spoke, causing her back to chill, as if Nathanos was watching her. "But Belmont mentioned that this was the place you were alive, so I'll pay special attention to whether anyone showed up here."
“Is there any?”
Lilian was a little surprised. The Withered One seemed to attach great importance to this issue. "Occasionally, some silver dawn soldiers would approach here, but they just made sure there were no undead here and left." She said, carefully observing the Withered One's attitude. After a long time, a low growl came out from the master's throat. Voss was sure that he was disappointed in his answer, but not because of her, but because of the facts.
"Do you know? I was buried here."
"I... heard about it."
"I'm actually... quite happy that no one is here."
Oh! You don't think so in your heart. Lilian muttered in his heart. Nathanos' tone seemed to be trying hard to cover up something.
"If someone comes back to check it, you will find that there is nothing under the ruins of the house, there is no remains of the body." He paused, "If my family, my cousin, and even... my lover, whoever comes here, will find me disappear and will realize that I may still be alive."
"But they didn't." Lilian said carefully.
"Yes, they didn't." Nathanos stood up, his outline looked much taller under the moonlight, "Lilian Voss, accept your new mission."
The undead assassin opened his eyes wide, and she would be disappointed if Nathanos sent her to perform other missions, because that meant she could no longer hunt the crusaders. But her intuition told her that the Withered would not stop her.
