Chapter 62 - Maxwell
…………
Candles sway in the medium-sized chapel. In the middle of the hall was a large oak table covered with a huge map showing the land of the Eastern Plagueland, with the smallest details. Four men sat at the table, talking to each other. In front of the table was Maxwell Terosos, staring at an area on the map, where a piece of woodland was displayed, followed by a river. The other three were Erigore, Colfax, and Duke Nicholas Serenhof. In contemplation, Maxwell had no interest in what the other three said.
The gate of the chapel opened "woosh" and a slender figure came in. His thoughts were interrupted.
Erigore, who was slightly younger than Maxwell, recognized who the person was.
"Say hello to you, Ms. Rhine. But should you inform our guards and come in again? After all, we are discussing the next move of Silver Dawn."
"I'm sorry to bother you, the messenger of Dawn." Rhine first shouted out the title of Erigore, and then she paid tribute to the other two at the same time, "Warrior of the Holy Light and Lord Duke, please forgive me for coming uninvited."
The Warrior of Light is the name of Colfax. The strong warrior nodded to Rhine and asked, "I wonder what you are doing?"
"I'm here to find Baron Maxwell." Rhine looked at the highest-ranking person here with a bright look. "I want to say something to you, sir. And I think we'd better have a private chat." The night elves noticed the eyes of several consultants exchanging. Under normal circumstances, this request was nothing, but now it's the time for the senior meeting, and Rhine's behavior is a bit rude.
Maxwell looked directly at Rhine with one eye, and he shook his head: "Madam, Silver Dawn does not hide it. If you want to say your private affairs, I will never interfere. If it is a business, then you must be open and honest."
A flash of fire flashed in Rhine's eyes. After a moment of silence, she walked up and agreed to the Paladin's statement. Erigore, who was facing her back, gave her a seat so that she could talk to Maxwell face to face.
"Silver Dawn is also because of the mutual trust of the members to survive in a tense situation. I apologize for the unreasonable request just now." She bowed deeply.
Then, Rhine told all her experiences yesterday. She wanted to say them briefly, but what she saw and felt made her language stretch and slender.
"Three undead? Are you saying... they let you go?" Several senior officials looked at each other in surprise at the night elf's statement. Maxwell tried his best to keep his voice even and smooth. Others kept quiet while he talked to Rhine.
"I've been in the Plagueland for a while, and I've fought with the Scourge, and I know what kind of creature it is. But... what I met yesterday subverted my perception."
"Praise the Holy Light, ma'am. You don't look very seriously injured." Erigore said, but he wondered why such a small thing made her care so much? Maybe those three undead could not catch up with the female druid.
"So...what exactly are you wondering?" Maxwell asked Rhine, "Or, what do you want to express? Do you want us to send someone to find those three undead?"
"No, sir." Rhine said in a tightening voice. "What I want to say is that the three undead did not attack me at the beginning, and even the other two did not act from beginning to end."
"Maybe they think they can beat you alone." Colfax speculated, but soon he realized that his words were inappropriate. "Sorry, ma'am, you know I didn't mean that."
"It's okay, the Warrior of the Holy Light." Rhine responded with a smile. She could not beat the three undead, and she could not even beat one of them. This is a fact. "But I don't agree with your guess. I do feel a little difficult to face one of them, but no matter what, they can't let me go, right? Even in the battle, they can't stop at the moment of killing me."
Colfax fell silent, and he could not explain this strange phenomenon. The undead generally did not capture living prisoners, they would erase all living things.
Maxwell took the say and asked, "What do you want to know, ma'am?"
"I don't think there is any better understanding of the existence of the undead's natural disaster than Silver Dawn. You should be able to give me the answer, Baron Maxwell." Rhine was ready and said, "What I want to know is, is it possible for those undead to recover their consciousness during their lifetime? Can they become kind-hearted? Or are they still the same they were, just living in another form?" Rhine asked. She began to become a little excited, like a fanatical apprentice.
"How is this possible?" Serrenhof shouted, completely frightened by Rhine's words, and even a little angry. Erigore and Colfax also opened their mouths to express surprise. How could Rhine, who had always been calm, ask such a question?
"The undead were indeed our family members during their lifetime, but now they have completely fallen and become tools of killing," Colfax explained.
Erigor agreed with his point of view and pointed out: "There are thousands of undead entrenched in Stantholm, and there are many warriors who once believed in the Holy Light, such as Baron Ochris Rivendale, who was once a highly respected lord, but after his death he became a nightmare existence in people's hearts. He was resurrected from the dead and had his own consciousness, but he stood opposite to the Holy Light. No one like him could get rid of the curse of death, so how could anyone else be able to?"
Rhine was about to argue, but Maxwell suddenly said: "But it is very small that she is right..."
"Terrosos?"
"grown ups?"
The other three Silver Dawn members burst into shock, and Rhine looked at Maxwell in surprise.
One-eyed Paladin took a breath slowly and glanced at everyone. He said, "I still remember the day when Lord Tyrio Fording was removed from his position as a Holy Light." He paused for a while, freeing up time for the other three members of the organization to recall with him. Although some of them had not seen it with their own eyes, they must have heard of it. "You all know that Fording lost his identity as a Paladin because of an orc. I remember Uther, Fording's colleagues, and even his family.
He was advised to delay all the blame on the orc, but he refused without hesitation. He chose to exile." Maxwell closed his eyes, as if he was sad for the people in his mouth. "Many years later, when I was still a blood crusade, in the Valley of the Fireplace, Fordine's son Tyran told me that his father had told him that race does not represent glory. I know that some orcs are as respectable as the noblest knights; I also know that some humans are as evil as the most brutal natural disasters of the undead."
He said at this point, and then took a deep breath and said, "This is why the Silver Dawn can stand. I am very grateful to Fording, because of his words, I resolutely left the Blood Crusade and chose to work together with all the major races. My brothers, I know what you are worried about, which is what I have never mentioned before. We have all hated orcs because they invaded our world, but when the Holy Spirit of Light Chapel was attacked by the Kelthuzad army, how many orcs were there to protect this piece of Ning
Silent land and sacrifice their lives? They were our enemies, but now we can fight side by side." The Paladin smiled. He saw an orc warrior in the camp discussing combat skills with a human. "This is the power generated by our mutual trust. We dare to hand over our backs to our former enemies, because we know that they are as kind as we are, and trustworthy. So, since both orcs and trolls can be accepted by us, why can't the undead?" Maxwell looked around and looked at the others.
Egrit held the table with his hands in deep thought. Serenhof held his chest and lowered his head. Only Colfax responded to him, but was not refuting. "Thinking about it now, the undead is really similar to the orcs. They are all controlled by evil forces and have their souls taken away. Killing is not their nature. If anyone can get rid of control... But if there are such undeads, why don't they seek our help?"
"Because we are all living beings," Rhine said regretfully, "they think we will attack them mercilessly and will not listen to their explanations, just like me." The night elf lowered her head. She still remembered the desire to attack when she first saw the three undead...it was almost out of her instinct.
