Chapter 1 - Pendants

…………

I have to be one step ahead of her!

Sylvanas ran forward desperately, staring at Aurelia. Her sister's speed was comparable to hers, but only because she took the initiative, they would have a distance.

The wind was howling, the thunder sounded, and the storm was brewing. The lightning fell from the sky thundered a twisted tree and smashed it into the middle of the road ahead...

...

Jaina and Sylvanas are now having a meal at a small restaurant next to the living room of Storm Fortress in Storm City. Alongside is a long and eye-catching gallery, with exquisite paintings hanging from the corners to the ceiling, which record the great past of the Wrien family, and also contain portraits of the family's closest friends, such as King Terenas Minaihill.

When Sylvanas walked in, he was attracted by the food he had prepared, and then hung his cloak on the barb on the wall, tidied up his long hair while sitting next to Jaina.

However, there are no portraits of these two notable guests in the gallery.

The female mage listlessly fiddled with the delicious meal in front of her. Most of the time she was bored and turned the wine glass in front of her seat instead of drinking the fine wine. But even if the fact that she had no appetite was written on her face, the housekeeper and servants continued to serve exquisite delicacies neatly. She was extremely expecting that the servants would quickly deliver the dessert after the meal, but still not, which would undoubtedly prolong her pain in this dinner.

In order to pass the time, Jaina had to visit Sylvanas. General Ranger was savoring an appetizer: a delicious pie with rich honey, and the sweetness in the pie was almost sprayed out along the crust.

"You don't want to eat something after finally getting rid of that damn high-level league meeting?"

The female mage closed her eyes and murmured, "I'm not hungry at all. Do you want to know the content of the meeting?"

Sylvanas waved his hand, "Don't affect my appetite." She used a spoon to dispose of the honey sauce on her lips. Even if Jaina didn't say it, she could still think of the alliance leaders' attitude towards the tribe and towards the Forgotten.

What happened to the meeting is so easy to guess.

"Is Mr. Breed okay?"

The female elf was stunned. She swallowed the food and wiped her hands with a napkin. She said very seriously: "He is very good and her body is still strong, but he may not know about Nathanos."

"The tribe sent a messenger to contact the Forgotten. The king was not sure of Nathanos's attitude, so he temporarily blocked his news."

"I can't tell him that he is right?" Sylvanas felt that he heard a huge joke. The leader of the alliance forgot who sent people to hunt Nathanos and who was resistant to the undead with conscience in the world. "Didn't you tell him that the Forgotten has helped Theramore? If Varian was wise enough, he should realize that the Forgotten is not an enemy, and may even become a potential ally."

Almost subconsciously, Jaina recalled Varian, Tyrande, and the Prophet Viren. She opened her mouth to tell Sylvanas what they said, but the words that upset her were like a fish bone, stuck in her throat.

"It is impossible to become an ally, the best relationship is tolerance."

"It's not entirely unexpected."

The female mage shook her head at the same time, and the words "helpless" were already written on her face. "The problem is that I didn't expect that, I thought Viren and Tyrande would at least support me, but when I said my thoughts..." She smiled aggrievedly, "I realized that I had attended an extremely awkward meeting, which was far more embarrassing than other public places. I was really... a little unwilling to give up."

"This is not like a diplomat's tone. Meetings will give you the message you want as soon as possible, right?"

Jaina looked at Sylvanas for a while, then glanced at her, "I hope that those messages won't make my nerves explode." And I didn't get any valuable news. Jaina did not continue to say what she thought, and faced with the red wine in her hand, she finally took a sip.

General Ranger was tasting the grilled fish of Danasus in front of her, and his chewing slowly might be her witty way to avoid conversation.

“I heard there was also a delicious wild berry cake to fill our dessert time.”

"Thanks to the Royal Chefs for their considerate care. The preparation was so thoughtful." Jaina responded softly, took another sip of the wine, and secretly reminded herself not to drink too much. Even though these wines looked so tempting, she hoped to end the visit to Stormwind immediately and return to Theramore. She was eager to stand in front of the construction drawings and direct the reconstruction work. "But I can't eat it at all."

Another portion of rabbit meat was brought up, and it seemed that Varian insisted on being a polite host, which meant that endless luxury banquets continued to entertain the two of them. If Twash or Bern were here, at least it would fill the banquet with some relaxed and interesting topics. But Jaina and Sylvanas undoubtedly felt that every word between each other was inseparable from the Forgotten and Nathanos.

This name has become the stone in the heart of the female mage. Although the meeting made her unhappy, Rogers's words are worth noting: Maybe they are thinking about threatening us with the living people on the stronghold.

Theramore is very close to the territory of the Forgotten, and once it is in danger, the alliance cannot ignore it.

Sylvanas suddenly found Jaina sitting upright on the chair, as if she was still moving, but her thoughts seemed to be brewing brainstorming, thinking deeper on a certain field.

"What’s wrong with you?"

"I'm thinking about what you said to me that night."

The female elf looked at the blonde mage curiously.

"You said you were eager to see Nathanos. But you later wondered why he had to teleport Theramore to the Dalaran Pit."

"I thought about it later, maybe it was because he felt that the location of the Dalaran giant pit was absolutely safe, or there was no more suitable place."

"I'm afraid you don't even believe this possibility yourself." Jaina's words made Sylvanas angry. Before she retorted, the female mage added: "Your tone was obviously worried."

"Worry?" the female elf smiled, "What am I worried about?"

"You're afraid that he's no longer the Nathanos you know. You're afraid that he's changed, aren't you?"

"So you're doubting him, too?"

"Don't misinterpret what I mean. Sylvanas Nathanos saved Theramore. I will always remember this kindness, but I hope his original intention is just, not another conspiracy plan."

Sylvanas slowly turned his head to Jaina and reluctantly admitted that she was right. "What about you? Are you more inclined toward that position?"

"I hope Nathanos's approach is to build friendships between the Forgotten and the Alliance, to survive as a race when the Forgotten is recognized. If he thinks so, I will do my best to help him."

General Ranger put down the tableware in her hand, and now she has no appetite. "I hope so."

"Ms. Prodmore!"

Suddenly, the door of the small restaurant was pushed open brutally. Sylvanas immediately grabbed the buttered knife on the table with caution. However, the person rushing in was not someone else, but a scout in the Theramore robe. His forehead was wet with sweat, and he lowered his head and gasped.

"What's going on, soldier?" General Ranger responded, even when she was resting, she still looked so calm and accurate. Jaina stood with her, the female mage had thought about who would disturb their rest time, but her people were not on that list, but her soldiers were indeed here now, looking exhausted and embarrassed, like a big dog falling into the water.

"The emergency situation is related to General Ranger."

"Me?" The female elf and the human woman mage looked at each other. "It's obvious that you have important reports, but you forgot to keep it confidential."

"I'm sorry, ma'am. But this fact is too important and too urgent." The scout took a breath again, and Jaina handed him a glass of water, drank it all over before continuing to speak: "We followed Ms. Prodmore's order to contact allies around Theramore, including Silver Dawn and the militia around Hillsbrad, but we never expected to contact people from the hostile camp."

"Speak softly!" Sylvanas took the bottle from him and scolded nervously.

The scout who conveyed the news showed panic and realized his mistake. "I'm really sorry."

Jaina released a shielding spell to the restaurant gate and comforted the scout, "It's okay, continue to say. Who are you in contact with?"

"Is it the undead?" Sylvanas asked. She breathed a sigh of relief after seeing the scout shaking her head. But soon she held her breath again.

"It's a blood elves," said the scout, "but not a spy, he claimed to be a messenger from Quel'thalas."

"Aleria?"

“Where are the others?”

"He did not ask to see you two, but just sent an item to Ms. Sylvanas." After that, he opened the backpack on his waist and took the thing out of it.

It was an exquisite pendant, with the color of the jade on its body shining brightly under the light.

"This thing?" Sylvanas took it and sank his face and tightened his lips.

Jaina ordered the scout behind her, "Don't tell anyone about this. If someone asks you, you're here to come to me to support the reconstruction work."

The scout nodded, and this time he stepped out respectfully.

"Silvanas?" Jaina gently called the female elf's name, and the other party's attention was completely attracted by the gadget in the palm of his hand. Intuition told Jaina that that thing had a special meaning to Wind Walker.

"I have this jewelry, too," she said, "just I left it in Theramore."

"I can't understand the text above, but I guess it was written by Ms. Aurelia."

Sylvanas nodded slightly, "I, my sister, and my sister... we all have a pendant like this."

"So that's it." Jaina gasped nervously. "Why did your sister send her pendant over?"

"There are only two possibilities." The elf sighed: "Either she wants me to go back, or she just wants to meet me. No matter which one, I have a strong feeling, she is looking for me because of Nathanos."

Jaina felt that the content of the conversation was far beyond her control. Sylvanas was just a unilateral guess, but it might not be impossible. If she was right, the female mage could only admire the tacit understanding between the Wind Walker sisters. Moreover, Aurelia suddenly sent someone to send this to her to undoubtedly cause trouble for them. The Alliance and the Horde had just fought for Theramore. It was unreasonable to ask for a meeting between hostile relatives at this time. Just rational judgment and thinking can be seen that such behavior is tantamount to "cooperating with the enemy", but Sylvanas seemed to have not considered this at all, and Aurelia was too. Aurelia wasn't worried that Garrosh would notice it?

The blonde mage did not say his heart, but asked, "What are you going to do?"

"I won't care what Varian thinks." Sylvanas knew what Gianna was worried about. Although they had many similar ideas, she never cared about the consequences. "Since my sister has tried hard to send this, let me see what she was going to do."

"You want to go alone?" Jaina felt that she had asked a particularly stupid question. Of course, Sylvanas would be alone, because the second person in Theramore and the Silver Covenant could not be found with the surname "Wind Walker".

"I think she will be alone, and there is only one meeting place, which is our home."

"The Tower of Wind Walker?"

After hearing the place in this sentence, Sylvanas fell into silence. How long has it been since she returned home? She thought she had no connection with that place anymore. "I will set off immediately, maybe Aurelia is waiting for me there."

"What if you are in danger?"

"This can't be a trap. My sister knows what the bottom line is."

Jaina took a deep breath, and she was worried about the visit of Windrunner. "I don't agree with your argument." She said, sounding like a whispering whisper. "Think about it, Sylvanas, think about it seriously. Your sister is the Regent, and her every move is related to her people. She wants to know everything about Nathanos, but will she sit down and talk to you well? The best situation I can imagine is that she is forcing you to ask you to tell everything you know; the worst result is that you meet. So don't act irritating, I ask you: don't take risks on the eve of the war between the Alliance and the Tribe."
