Chapter 1 - Bandages

…………

Introduction:

The storm continued, causing the world around the world to change color. Aurelia and Sylvanas could not tell what was inside, but they had a common idea: it was like a cocoon, about to burst out.

...

Gardener Lao Wu really couldn't think of anything he wasn't interested in. If so, it must be the work he was responsible for every day in Tianchan Temple. Although sometimes he would arrange these tasks for new apprentices who came here to practice, most of the time he had to do it himself. In his spare time, Lao Wu's interest is brewing. The trouble is that waiting for the beer to ferment and mature is a headache. Not only because he was impatient to know how the wine tasted, but more importantly, after each brewing, he would have all kinds of fantasy ideas and fantasize about a brand new beer recipe.

All kinds of novel ideas that kept popping up in his mind firmly grasped his curiosity. The brewing process took time and energy, as well as the raw materials. The last batch of fine wines had exhausted all the grains and vegetables he had stored, and now he had to prepare again and find new raw materials.

In the Jade Forest, it is easy to find wine-making materials. The red candle forest outside the Tianchan Temple has many red honeydew berries. These fruits are not an excellent material for winemaking because they taste no taste, but the juice contained in the peel is really a good thing. It only takes a little to turn the color of the wine into an attractive crimson. Many people like this color. Teacher Xia, who is responsible for the basic skills of apprenticeship, Master Shiquan, who teaches practical skills, and even Elder Yunshui, who manages Tianchan Temple. Of course, Lao Wu also likes this red color, just like the suspender vest and his trousers he wears.

It doesn't take too long to go to the Red Candle Forest. During the period, Lao Wu did not go to worship after passing the Shuanglong Shrine. He came to the west gate of Tianchan Temple and had a brief chat with Shang Long, the guard here.

"You want to enter the Red Candle Forest? Only?" Shang Long scratched his beardless chin. He was a few years younger than Lao Wu, wearing old armor and brown hair with a ponytail. As a disciple who became a disciple in Tianchan Temple, he chose to stay here to become a paid guard. As a guard, he knew very well what could pose danger to the temple. For example, the Green Wood Forest Spirits are not a group of likable guys, and they always like to steal panda people's things; there are tigers that often appear in the Red Candle Forest, who only treat panda people as desserts when they are hungry. Therefore, when Shang Long seemed quite uneasy when he heard that Lao Wu was about to enter the Red Candle Forest.

"You should probably find a few more helpers, it will be safer."

"The disciples are all practicing in the morning, and no one can help me." Lao Wu said, "but the new disciples need my wine at the welcome banquet, so I have to prepare early."

Shang Long sighed slightly and looked at the sleeping forest ahead. "May the White Tiger help you drive away those dangerous animals."

"Master Xuewu won't help me." Old Wu waved his fist. "But I'm very strong."

The two laughed at each other, and they were always happy to stop and talk. Lao Wu walked into the bottom valley forest where he was going. Over the long years, Pandalia has always been the homeland of the Panda people, but it does not mean that there will be people entering and leaving every place. Lao Wu is not afraid of the unfamiliar environment. He has been to the Red Candle Forest several times. At first, he might feel a little cold on his back. Gradually, he got used to the quiet atmosphere here and told himself that the coolness was just the wind in the morning.

After searching several times, he found a plant full of red honeydew berries. He excitedly took out the empty water bag hanging on his waist, picked the fruits, and slowly squeezed them hard, introducing the juice into the water bag. The remaining flesh was useless, so Lao Wu buried it in the soil, hoping that the seeds inside could take root and sprout.

Of course, one tree could not meet his needs, but the deeper it went into the red candle forest, the more fruits it could find. Before I knew it, Lao Wu's water bag was half full, and he could be done as long as he worked hard for a while.

Suddenly, the panda's nostrils opened slightly, and there seemed to be an unusual smell in the air. Old Wu raised his head, and the movement not far behind him made him feel cold all over. An adult red candle forest female tiger was approaching here with a cub. Their mouth kept waving, capturing the breath of prey in the air. The female tiger walked in front, and her head swayed from time to time. The cub looked very active. When the mother was looking for food, it kept moving between the bushes.

The tigers in the Red Candle Forest are all fierce predators. Lao Wu, who has entered the woodland many times, knows very well. He understands what fear is, and also knows that if he starts with two big cats, it is likely to cause a lot of noise and attract more tigers. But if he runs, his legs can't run four legs. In a hurry, he has a sudden inspiration, looking at the redness of his hands, quickly smearing the juice of the berries on his face, then picking up two plants to block his face, crouching down his fat body, fantasizing that the two tigers pass by as if nothing had happened...

Well, the facts proved that this attention was stupid. When Old Wu quietly moved away the cover in front of him, he saw two tigers in front of him, and the cat's eyes looked at the panda man with camouflage makeup. Time seemed to be still at this moment. Old Wu reacted first, jumping from the ground before the two big cats realized that he was a delicious meal. The cub was startled by his actions and hid in the bushes. But its mother only took a small step back, then roared and pounced on the unarmed panda man.

Old Wu fell back in panic. Although he lacked practical experience as a monk, the apprentices who watched Tianchan Temple in the years also made him appreciate some of the fur. He kicked his legs and his wide soles slapped the female tiger's face and left shoulder one after another, causing the beast to suffer a lot. He rolled on the ground for a few times before he stood up again. Old Wu's left leg was scratched by the female tiger's claws in this process, and there were bloody wounds under three cracks on his pants. He didn't care about the pain, and got up and ran away quickly.

As he had thought before, the panda man's legs could not run past the four-legged tiger. When he heard the predator's footsteps and the roar in his mouth approaching him, Lao Wu shouted in a hurry: "Help!"

No one responded, and he could not even hear the shouts of apprentices in Tianchan Temple when they competed in the competition. Only then did he realize that he could no longer tell the direction and was unsure whether he was escaping to the location of the Zen Temple.

There was only one result: he was caught up. Several sharp claws pierced into his back. The thrust made him fall. The pain immediately drowned Lao Wu's whole body. His head was soaked in the mud. He tried to stand up. However, the severe pain of the torn flesh and blood made him unable to bear it. He was exhausted and miserable, and even felt that he was almost dead. The tiger roared around him, as if the sky was about to collapse. As his consciousness gradually blurred, Lao Wu only heard the sound of a heavy object falling to the ground, and then the sound of a fight, and then he knew nothing. The darkness quickly enveloped him.

...

The sunlight sprinkled in from outside the window, and the breeze blew open the empty door, making a "click" sound. The fragrance slowly spread out from the wine jar. On the wall is a portrait of the last Panda Emperor.

Old Wu woke up in a daze. It was not clear whether it was caused by the light or the smell of wine. Anyway, he woke up. The sound of the apprentices of Tianchan Temple practicing martial arts passed through his ears. From outside the house, he could hear familiar hawking sounds, and the transactions were carried out on an open space in the temple. He was at home, on his bed, and the embroidery on his pillow told him this. And his uncomfortable sleeping position reminded him that he was lying down and his neck was a little sore.

To awaken his vague consciousness, he wondered how long he had been sleeping. His head seemed to be hitting hard, as if it was about to explode. Old Wu sighed deeply, and he suspected that he had been dreaming, and it was a nightmare. Every time he tried to recall the details of the dream, his skull seemed to be constantly hit. He could only grasp the vagueest moments in the illusion: he met a tiger... and then was knocked down. He couldn't remember what happened in the middle.

"How much wine did I drink?" Old Wu murmured, did he lose with an apprentice?

He raised his head from the pillow and thought of getting up and getting out of bed. A severe pain shot through him. He shouted and poured over and panted. This feeling came from behind, and Lao Wu subconsciously touched it with his hands. He felt his whole body be bandaged. When he reached back, he was surprised to find that his palm was dyed with red paint. After smelling it, he decided that it was not blood and he relaxed.

Old Wu began to recall crazy about what happened to him, and slowly, more pictures flashed in his consciousness. Is the nightmare real? He encountered danger. The memory also became hazy and dull.

After several efforts, he finally got out of bed, but his face turned so painful. He wrapped himself in a coat and robe, then poured a basin of water from the water tank to clean up his hands and hair on his face. He walked out of the door.

Tianchan Temple is still as familiar as he is. Panda people have their own work to do. Lao Wu wanted to ask anyone who knows what he does, but doing so may only attract strange eyes from others. So he did not alarm anyone, but walked towards the exit of Tianchan Temple. He remembered that he met Shang Long, and maybe the guard knew something.

As usual, Shang Long was on his post. Seeing him coming, the panda man immediately smiled on his face.

"Thanks Zhu He, you woke up." He said. "I thought you would have to lie down for a few months before you get up."

When Lao Wu heard this, his eyebrows were drawn in an arc like asking a question. "What do you want to say? How long have I slept?" he asked.

Shang Long laughed and apologized for his joke. "Don't take it seriously, you'll sleep for three days."

"Three days?" Old Wu blinked in disbelief, and he muttered to himself. This explained the nightmare. "Shang Long, what happened to me? Why did I sleep for so long?" he asked.

The Panda Guard shook his shoulders and shook his head gently. "Who knows? I don't know exactly what happened to you." He replied. "You said you were going to Hongzhulin that morning. I don't remember how long you went." Old Wu knew that Shanglong would take a nap during work hours, which was no secret. "When I found you, you were lying in the aisle not far away." He pointed at the specific location of Old Wu. "At that time, you were already unconscious, and you were wrapped in bandages. Several water bags tied to your waist were filled with red juice."

Old Wu gently beat his painful head with his hand. "Fill it? This doesn't make sense at all. I seem to remember that I only collected half of it." He said tiredly.

"Elder Yunshui said you were attacked by a fierce tiger. Lin treated you."

Lin Lao Wu remembered Lin Rouzhang, the assistant next to Elder Yunshui, a sweet-looking female panda man. She had just arrived in Tianchan Temple for a while, and Lao Wu was surprised that her power had increased so quickly.

"Are there any more details? Have you seen who sent me back?" Old Wu was confused that he was so sure that it was not that he ran back, but that someone saved him and sent him back to Tianchan Temple. Perhaps it might have helped him collect some berry juice.

"Well," Shang Long thought, "You muttered to help."

Old Wu sighed, the injury behind him was aching slightly. But he could no longer get more useful information.

"Oh, by the way. Lin took your clothes to wash. If you want to come back, you have to find her."

"Of course." Old Wu nodded, "I also want to thank her for treating me in person."

Farewell to Shang Long, Old Wu walked back step by step, and there were more and more questions in his heart. He was alone, and he carefully recalled which nameless savior was made. As far as he knew, he was indeed the only one in the woods that morning. Simply put, Old Wu did not believe that the two beasts let him go, and it was impossible for the green wood forest spirit. From his knowledge of them, their naughty character never showed their way of pity to another creature, especially for the pandas.

"Are you here?"

Lao Wu raised his head, and the owner who wanted to blame the voice for interrupting his thoughts, but it was Lin Rouzhang standing in front of him. All Lao Wu's confusion disappeared temporarily.

"Lin? I'm going to find you..." He noticed that the female panda man was holding his red vest in his hands, which had been washed clean. "Please trouble you."

Lin showed a polite but reproachful smile. "The patient should lie in the bed. Elder Yunshui asked me to see your situation."

"I can move." Old Wu scratched the back of his head and took his clothes carefully. He originally wanted to avoid the female panda man's direct gaze, but Lin's eyes flashed with a strange light that attracted him. "Is there anything else?"

"In fact... it does." Lin's hand had a bloody bandage, and showed it to Lao Wu. "It was tied to you at that time. The medicine applied on it stopped the blood on your wound, but when I changed the dressing, I found that this medicine was not any of the medicines in the Pandas' Pharmacopoeia records. I also asked the monkey man and the monkey man in the temple, and they all said they didn't know each other. So I was very curious, do you remember who saved you? I studied this medicine and it worked very well."

While listening, Lao Wu swallowed, "I'm sorry, Lin. I also want to know who saved me. But I didn't see that person at all. I don't know whether he is a man or a woman."

"That's really a pity." Lin nodded, "Anyway, you'll wake up. Now, Elder Yunshui feels relieved."

"Please say thank you to the elder on my behalf." Old Wu bowed slightly, his movements were not large. "I will guarantee that he could drink the most delicious wine at the new apprentice's welcome banquet."
